Got home from getting SWOLL!!!

Shoulders are killing me. Sparred with my friend, exhaustion has set in already, and the day still hasn't started.

Thanks man, I really have been keeping it up and I'm really dedicated, especially with diet. 5 healthy high protein meals a day amounting to 180-200g protein. I only train with weights 3x a week, but I train with high intensity to make the most of it, and it works. My arms are 15'' btw, I guess that's pretty good for being 17.

Okay so I need advice on protein supplements and creatine and whatever all that stuff is. I literally don't know what any of it means. I'm pretty knew to working out. I just want to build a lot more muscle and get the most out of my workouts. I'm too freaking scrawny. 5'11" 150lbs. Just from some quick googling "myotein" sounds good. My friend said he used creatine and added like 8 lbs of muscle in a few weeks. I don't know anything about any of this. Teach me, muscled mustangers.

Check out some of the online supplement stores for your best prices, stay away from GNC unless you hate your money.. Believe it or not Wal-Mart carries a brand called Body Fortress, they make an excellent whey protein powder that is better than a lot of the more expensive brands. Another common misconception is the order in the day in which we eat our foods... I noticed quite a few people on here follow.. The majority of your protein intake should be early in the day.. the problem is people commonly eat this for dinner and it actually can inhibit the metabolism.. your dinner should consist of more carbs, as to maintain your blood glucose levels during rest this will enhance your metabolism... I know you're trying to gain weight but this is something everyone should know. As far as protein intake goes if you are actively exercising and trying to gain mass, a good rule of thumb is to take your body weight x 1.25 in grams of protein daily you can do the majority with powders or it becomes nearly impossible with foods, also I would suggest looking into gluten free carbs. Any questions get back at me.

Also, you have a 30-60 minute window following your workout to replenish your muscle energy stores, carbs can be a great post workout meal.. and are crucial for supplying energy for a heavy workout regimen.

Oh dude. Bodybuilding.com has their own forums.

Search there. I hate to sound lazy and not explain the different proteins and creatines and the different types of acids... It's all there. More info than you'll ever need.

You don't necessarily need a protein suppliment if you're getting it from your foods already.
The biggest thing you need to go to gain weight is eat a meal right after your workout.
Something 40-60% carbs. So say you eat a 100 calories, 40-60 of those calories should be from carbs.
To figure that out, take the amount of carbs on the food label, multiply by 4, divide by total calories, and multiply by 100 to get the percentage.

As far as general protein intake, strength athletes the general rule of thumb is 1.4-2.0 grams of carbs per kg of body weight. (to convert your weight in lbs to kg just divide your pounds by 2.2). If you're just doing a weight training program I'd stay on the low side of that range though.

I have a little body fat I'm trying to cut down on. So I am using a Low Carb protein mix right now. If you wanna bulk up quick get on Creatine Monohydrate. But, I'm not gonna say why, I hate Creatine Monohydrate. Just personal preference.

Yea I'm not sure about Creatine right now. One of my friends said he doesn't like it. From what I've learned it adds water to your muscle to make it bigger. He said you'll be kinda fat after one week, but then you'll be really bulky.

I take a preworkout with creatine and never got bloated and all that. I think it depends on the person as well.

My nutritionist recommends staying away from creatine. She recommends whey based proteins for pre-post workout recovery. They are some of the quickest absorbing protein powders. Egg based or Casein protein are great to keep your metabolism running overnight.

Nice results. I'm currently working my way towards between 165-175. I'm at 146 right now.
And that looks like a real nice place to train. I wish there was something like that around here.

What can you guys recommend for a substitute to cottage cheese to add to my whey protein shakes? I can't stand the taste of cottage cheese and want to try something else.

Nice job man, impressive.

I love Ninja Warrior, maybe I'll do it one day.

Just curious, how much weight was on that bar when you were doing the squats, it looked like 900lbs or something, lol.

You can knock out pull ups like crazy, can you do a true one arm pull up? I'm trying to get there.
