At work I eat Quaker Naturals Oatmeal - they have two flavors, honey almond and maple brown sugar - both are very good. I take a stack of those small plastic cocktail glasses to work, put one packet of oatmeal in it and use the hot water dispenser in the cafeteria. Just cover with water to make it rather thick. There are flax seeds in it which swell in your stomach and will keep you full for a few hours. Follow that with some fresh fruit. Full of fiber!
Another good choice would be a high fiber cereal. Or you could hard boil some eggs, peel them and keep them in a covered container in the fridge - then just grab a couple when you want them.

That oatmeal sounds good. I'll have to pick some of that up today.

actually study has said that people that eat eggs every morning that are on a diet were losing 65% more weight than people that ate just granola or whatever. It takes less than 5 minutes to make 2 over easy eggs and about 45 seconds to eat them lol.

If you drink juice, make it a small portion, like 6 ounces. Even healthy juices are high in sugar. Tim is correct about eggs. The super healthy way is to eat just the whites, but the whole egg is fine. The thing with eating the entire egg is that they are high in carbs, like white rice, pasta, bread, etc. But carbs are only bad if you overdo them, or if you eat them and then lay around like a lummox. Carbs are good if you're active and exercising a lot. Ditto for protein.

ok so id be all for this but here is my problem. i absolutley hate vegetables. every diet i have ever seen or read about is all about eating veggies and shit to stay healthy. i never have liked veggies. my mother has been trying to get me to eat them sense i was a toddler and i have never liked them. i eat tators(not a healthy veggie i know) and once in while ill eat some peas and carrots. thats it. on the other hand if i dont eat meat at least once a day i get cranky lol. i love beef, pork, pultry, some sea food, wild game. we eat deer meat at least 3-4 times a week.

I hate bananas. I eat them. Also hate cantaloupe, but I eat that too. I eat my whole wheat toast in the morning dry, no butter. I hated this at first, but grew to like it. Ditto for broccoli- used to HATE it. Now I eat it raw. Coffee, used to put three cream, three sugar in it. Now I have it double milk no sugar. Grew to like that as well. If you eat beef, mak it lean, ad small portions. Pork...meh. Sea food, meh. Deer meat I am unsure about nutritionally. Chicken is good. Fish is good. Eat fruit, but don't overdo it. 3 - 4 servings a day. And vegetables are best eaten uncooked, or cooked lightly.

The best diet I ever did and still try to do is eating every 2-3 hours, small portions, healthy food. Then take one day off a week and eat pizza, chineese, whatever splurge but dont go crazy. It keeps your metabolism up high. If you dont take the break your body gets used to that routine and naturally slows down and when you do eat anything besides rabbit food, or chicken and rice you gain 137lbs LOL but seriously the day off will keep your body "tricked" and will keep the metab up .... I have seen a lot of people put on this diet by the guy that did it for me and it really works....a lot better than all of these no carb, or no fat, no etc. diets, because when you do eat them, and you will eventually, your body is totally not used to it and you will get fat fast.

Deer meat/venison is A LOT better for you than beef, as stated in this paragraph: "Nutritionally, deer meat (venison is a broader term that also applies to meat from elk, moose, caribou and antelope) is healthier than beef. A three-ounce serving provides only 134 calories and three grams of fat, including only one gram of saturated fat. Beef gives you 259 calories for the same three-ounce serving, and 18 grams of fat, including seven grams of saturated fat." I had 7 venison sasauges this morning, I cooked them myself. Lots of protein. My workout today so far was folding laundry and bring in/putting away groceries. I'm going to work out pretty soon. I'll do 25 curls of a 30lb barbel, probably 4 sets today. Then I'll do 20 or so tricep dips. I guess that's good enough. I need to make a workout schedule though.Saturday, August 1st, 2009 Breakfast: about 7 ounces of venison sausage(about 340 calories, 8g of fat, and 2.5 g of saturated fat, I think 0 carbs), a pear(about 100 calories and 28g of carbs ) and a small glass of soy milk(less than 100 calories, 3.5 grams of fat, .5g of saturated fat and 10g of carbs)Between lunch and breakfast: 16oz water with a crystal light drink mix Lunch: Bumble Bee Chicken Salad(140 calories, 8g of fat, 2g of saturated fat and 10g of carbs) and a 16oz water with a crystal light drink mix Between lunch and dinner: 16oz water with a crystal light drink mix Dinner: TBD So far today I've had 650-700 calories, 16g of fat, 4.5-5.0g of saturated fat, 48g of carbs, and 48oz of water. Not too bad, well at least everything besides the carbs. ![]() I eat too much fruit, I've been having at least 3-4 nectarines/peaches combined a day.

Busted my ass in the yard today. Taught my 11 year old daughter how to mow the yard. My son is now driving by himself so had him run a couple small errands for me. Hubby helped a lot and the kids pitched in. Was a good day!
Breakfast: 2 iced sugar cookies, 1 cup coffee Lunch: 1 Balance Protein Bar and 1 cup of Chocolate Soy Milk Dinner - BW3's - will attempt to have something healthier - maybe some chicken taco's with celery instead of chips. Will allow myself one small beer because I did work really hard. Have drank a ton of water today as well. Will not eat any pop corn at the movie either - taking a bottle of water in with me so no sugary liquids...

I'm glad someone made this thread. I wish their was a bill that proposed paying people for eating healthier and being healthy in general, but I doubt that would happen.
It's really sad that there are now more obese americans than overweight americans.

That's because it's cheaper and easier to be overweight. It really is sad.
MF you may be the future of our country son - go into politics and CHANGE IT! Stuck to plan tonight - after I ordered my beer though, I thought maybe I should have ordered something lighter. Just didn't think about it before - I'll make a better choice next time.

Today was shitty for me.
Nothing for breakfast or lunch, aside from a handful of cashews, and grilled hotdogs and hamburgers for dinner, with a coke. ![]() I did get a new app for my itouch though, it is a running program that starts you off alternating between running and walking, and as it progresses, you run for longer periods of time and for longer distance. It is 9 weeks in total, and you run 3 times per week. At the end of the program you are supposed to be able to run a 5k without stopping. It's pretty cool, I haven't had a chance to try it out yet though, I need to snag a new pair of sneakers first.

It was pretty much because my body put on bodyfat before I got a lot taller. If I was skinny then as much as I am now, I can't imagine how I would look now.I just weighed myself tonight on a digital scale and I'm now 5'7 124.8lbs. I don't really want to get anymore skinny, I just want to tone up in a good bit of places and gain some muscle mass on my arms so I won't look so scrawny. My workout today was 5 hours of putting laundry in the washer/dryer/taking it out/folding it, filling/emptying the dishwasher, cleaning the walls with a magic eraser, and lifting a 30lb barbel 25 reps. I slacked off today on working out, I know, but standing up/walking around for over 4 hours combined has to burn a good amount of energy. My back was sore before I sat down, but my legs still are. I'm friggin tired, I won't be staying up too late tonight. Last edited by unlicensed to drive; August 2nd, 2009 at 12:32 AM. |

Were you able to find the oatmeal we talked about? I'm not a runner - the shin splints kill me - I walk pretty fast when I walk though....haven't ever been able to figure out why when I run, the splints come. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.
This is part of the problem in the US today - when I was growing up, we were not fully aware of the dangers of junk food and how not exercising would effect us, therefore, we didn't exercise and we ate junk food because it tasted good and filled us up. We obeyed the "3 squares a day" meal plan which always included meat and starch - veggies were optional and we were all members of "The Clean Plate Club" because there were people starving in Ethiopia. If you Mom isn't teaching you these things, then you will be fine. Just keep active - don't sit in front of the TV or Computer for hours on end - get out and do something. Eat right and exercise. That is the simple plan for all of us really. But for you, you are developing these ideas in your youth and I'm confident you won't ever have weight issues because you realize the importance already. You're not fat. We've already told you this.

You know what I love? Being 36, being able to eat anything you want, and still not having a belly.
![]() Ok ok, when I turned 35 I started to get a small one. Doing sit-ups a few times a week solved it. And we aren't talking major work here. It's the price I pay for eating anything I want whenever I want. ![]() Yay fast metabolism! I was actually too skinny most of my life. Since I turned 30 I started weighing more, but I wasn't fat. 160lbs 5'9.5" isn't big by no means. Keeps the weight of my car down. True driver mod
