Hmm that may have burned a good bit of calories. I did about 50 crunches today. I guess playing with my dogs is also a workout.

Actually if you are lifting and trying to put on lean muscle protein is definately necessary but It is good to get some carbs in before a heavy workout. I eat small portion meals (healthy) 6 to 8 times a day and I cut my carbs after my last meal before I go to the gym around 6. That is usually when I will eat pasta or rice with chicken, or tuna. then after they gym straight protein until bed and before bed a bowl of oatmeal with usually honey or peanut butter to give it some flavor. Not the flavored all sugar oatmeal. Oatmeal before bed is a great secret for anyone trying to lean up. I forget the technical term but it has something that helps breakdown fat as you sleep. thought some of you would like to know this. I am going to try and get some pics up of 6 weeks ago where I was at 186lbs and fat and now at about 210 and less body fat. Still have too much fat but not concentrating on that as much as putting back on size for now. Well of to the gym.....

Thanks for the tips.

I want to try to bulk up a little(not a whole bunch) so I won't have the "skinny teenager look"(I'm 5'7 120-125lbs, depends on how full/empty my stomach is) and also lose a little bit of stomach fat so my abs will show really good.

I think besides cereal, I'll try to eat a lot less processed foods. I had a Fiber One bar today, and it must have had at least 60-70 ingredients.

mustangfan, if you want to stay in shape, cool, but you might want to wait on the whole "being ripped" thing, as your testosterone wont be high enough for you to have any real muscles for atleast a couple of years

Regardless, you are too young to worry about trying to transform your body in terms of weight gaining. I would wait until you were 18 before I did anything specific to either "cutting up" or "bulking up". Until then, i would just worry about trying to get my strength up. Trust me, that skinny teenager look will leave on its own in a good way.

EDIT: x2 on what bwal said

I admit I'm worrying about being ripped too much hahaha, I'll try to stop.

I guess I didn't think about that.

I don't do serious workouts by any means, but I really want to be more consistent and vigorous because I don't think what I'm doing will allow me to see results.

Day 3 of this cyclical diet - Last day of the cleansing phase.

Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs with onion

Snack: 2 hard boiled eggs - whites only with hot sauce

Lunch: Lettuce, chicken, salsa, onion, tomato, guacamole

Snack: brussels sprouts, cottage cheese

Dinner: 1/2 chicken breast, asparagus

Work out: 10 min on the stairs, 5 on the treadmill then a full upper body workout and crunches.

You know....this might sound stupid, but this is kind of like detox in a rehab facility or something. I have had no sugar, no caffeine, no alcohol, extremely low carbs....

I sat at work and just cried twice today. I know this is a good thing and I know I have to do this it just seems like there's something inside of me that's fighting this - finding reasons why I shouldn't do this, excuses.... *sigh*

Pushing through it. Down 2 lbs in 2 days. Will stay active this weekend and go back for more training on Monday.

I'm glad you are eating Bubba - anything that you eat that isn't from a tube is a good thing. Thanks for not telling me though lol

I just ate two more stupid eggs.

*pretends to be an egg*

So, this week I ate decent again. Couple of so-so meals, ate two pancakes, but overall, I ate mostly grilled chicken, a couple orders of fish, salads, lots of veggies, and no fast food, sweets, snacks, or soda. Just water, juice, a little milk, and a couple of Naked drinks.

Google it. They're awesome.

Exercise consisted of my usual shit I do on the road. We wound up in a hotel after running out of hours near Boston, and after 3 beers I did a bunch of pushups, situps, and squats in my room.

Yesterday afternoon I did bi's tri's, shoulders, and more pushups, squats, and situps while delivering liquid to a customer in PA.

It's slow going for me doing this shit on the road, but I am slowly feeling better. Still at 220 as of today, but I am getting stronger, haven't smoked since Mach 13th, and considering I was smoking a pack a day, getting no cardio or exercise, and was 240 lbs a few months ago, the fact that I can do two sets of 40 pushups ain't bad for a guy who is 40 and has been doing basically a sedentary job for 19 years.

Gonna take me a while to see 200 lbs, but I'll get there. Soon Mama will be able to bounce quarters off my tight, hot ass.

It's a lot harder when you're 40 bro. And sitting in a truck 15 hours a day.

Loosing weight.. damn, I wish I had that problem... sorta.

I was in the hospital for nearly a month in 7th grade after wrecking my dirtbike.... I had hell regaining the weight I lost there, even with all the candy/junk food people gave me for "get well" gifts.

Nowadays, (I'll be 22 in Oct, 6' 1" and 160lbs) I could eat all day and not gain a pound.. but I'd rather not (some people would kill for this curse/ability). Pretty much anything I eat makes me sick (bad heartburn, very easy) so eating is NOT something I look forward to...

As far as exercise... I am always doing something; burning energy. During college semesters I can be found wandering the Texas A&M College Station campus... (walking/biking/running up stairs 2 at a time all day with a backpack)

I suppose my ideal "get fit" strategy would be to gain some weight... in muscle.

If your not consistant you will not see any gains, you have to be on track, you have to think about what your going to do at the gym before you go. If want to get strong stick to the cores, squats, bench press, deadlift, and do them correctly.

1.if the bar dosn't touch your chest when bench pressing it's not a good lift

2.if the top of your thighs arn't parallel with the ground at your lowest point then it not a good squat.

Good luck

I had a "scratch" weekend. Went camping and had all my favorites. Back to the gym tomorrow. We did hike a bunch too though so I'm not too worried about it.
