New camo for Afghanistan? - Army News, news from Iraq, - Army Times

did it really take 5 years for these fucks to realize it didn't work? for fuck's sake, the only time the acu is marginally effective is when you've been wearing the same set for 3 plus weeks in the field.

so, the million dollar quesion... will we even get these uniforms before the american people force us out of afghanistan?

and that's another thing... i saw a recent poll that said 50% of americans don't think we belong in afghanistan. what was that thing that happend like 8 years ago? didn't alot of people die or something? wtf is wrong with americans??????? after 9/11 we should've killed every afghan man, woman, and child just for living in a country that harbored terrorists like OBL. instead, we took the humanitarian route and destroyed the taliban while trying to preserve some stability. but then iraq happened and americans forgot afghanistan even existed. honestly, two years ago, how many of you non-military folk realized we were still in afghanistan? seriously? everyday, my friends and family ask me what it was like in iraq. i'm always correcting people. and it's getting to the point where it's pissing me off when someone asks.

don't get me started on why we invaded iraq... i get pissed thinking about that too. wmd's my ass. sadaam never had any fucking wmd's. we all knew it the whole time, but we let an ass clown talk us into it.

Afghanistan has become the new Iraq, since the media can no longer focus on what is going on in Iraq. We are just in Afghanistan to umm get oil, right? Hell the average American couldn't even point to where Afghanistan or Iraq is on a map, let alone tell you why we are there, other than lives lost.

It is truely sad that the overall focus of what has happened has been so muddied by political bs, that the average American doesn't understand the current threats that could happen/have been prevented. It's sad but true...war is a neccesary evil.

As for the ACU and the ABU...who the hell truely thought that would be the optimal uniform to use in our current battles???? The BDU was designed around the Vietnam war, and had both cold weather and hot weather options....umm, why do we not have that option on the current uniform? Last I checked, it gets just KINDA warm in the middle east!

One last comment...I am damn proud to say that since we have entered this current battle back in 2001, we have only lost just over 5,000 troops (god rest their soul)...June 6th, 1944 (D-Day) it is estimated we lost an estimated 10,000 troops alone Frequently Asked Questions for D-Day and the Battle of Normandy Keep in mind, that was just one day alone...our current battle has been going on for 6 years+ (offical battle didnt start till march of 03).

well marines sort of have cold weather and hot heather cammies.. our desert cammies are thinner, and our woodlands are a thicker material

It only took prob a day to know that the ACU don't break up shit, it took 4 years and 364 days of summiting papers that kept getting "lost" for something to happen I'm sure, we all know how the military is with papers, hell I submitted BAH papers 4 times in 5 days in FEB. The ACU was a step up with the digital pattern, but the wrong colors, like said before, only after I wear my ACUs a month, which I never will or want to do, will they ever "blend in".

i still prefer old school BDU's with a nice press and heavy starch and black boots that you have to shine.....it has a more professional appearance

but i bought some acu's when they first came out and i like them for hunting and what not because they are thick and heavy duty, i dont have to worry about tears or fckin them up and when its cold they can be kinda warm

Its not that Americans dont want to get revenge for what happened but like you said theres so much BS now that were not even dealing with the real issue. I dont even know whats goin on or why were there anymore theres been some many different reasons most of which are prolly BS anyway. I totally support our troops and the men and women that put their lives on the line for my freedom, but this war is more about political BS than anything else and I dont think its right to left American soldiers die for that.

I was telling someone this the other day. Someone mentioned how the UK passed the 200 KIA mark and now UK citizens are wanting to pull out. I was like "wtf, if we lost 200 before noon during WWII, we were having an outstading day."

i hate to say it, but i didn't join the army to defend anyones' freedom. i joined because i felt was afghanistan was the most ethically just war we've fought since WWII. i wanted to be a part of that. now, the media is comparing it to vietnam and making it out to be a 'lost' war that we should have never started. we didn't start it, we're finishing it. nothing about this war is political other than the whole elections and stability operations thing. we're there to kill the taliban and destroy any other extremeist networks. country building is the last on our 'to-do' list. i don't care if it lasts another 10 years. i'd gladly volunteer to spend the next ten years deployed there until it's won. fuck this 1 year deployed 2 years garrison bullshit. fight until it's won or lost.

I do agree with the new Cammies for the Army tho. They are much better the old ones where like a almost blueish color and I can imagine they didnt blend in for shit in the desert

lol... there's a SGT in my platoon that served with this guy. 1SG montenez...

but yeah, it's cool and everything (except for the combat patch on the hip) but a waste of money. i have to have one by i think october.
