not stock, because it shifts at too low of rpms.
also there is more of a parasitic drivetrain power loss with an auto

I don't think I could drive a car without a stick.

But it would totally depend on the condition of the car you are looking at compared to your own.

P.S. I have a friend with a 2003 V6 and he was a total auto guy then he saw me drive and how much fun I have and he wants a stick.

Ohh, and, that feeling throwing it into the next gear with your foot to the floor is amazing . Compared to the weird jolt I get in my friends auto .

Once you drive a stick you never go back to auto, atleast in my opinion....stick is just way more fun.

well a tuned auto will throw you back in the seat just as hard as any manual. Of course it is all just personal preference I shift my auto manually so I get the best of both worlds. I drive in a big city alot so I'm glad I don't have a stick there but when I am in the country I am glad I can shift manually.

i love driving both. i cant really help you make a decision here, but imo, a built auto > manual for racing

Hell, with some work, you could probably fit the thing with a dual clutch like a Getrag (http://www.getrag.de/455), which kicks everything else in terms of shifting speed, and is more efficient than an auto. If you're really good, hook it up with some paddle shifters, and it has everything beat.

agreed. i always drove auto till i got my mustang and then i learned stick. thought it sucked at first cause i didnt really know what i was doing but now i love it and wouldnt go back to an auto. but im in a city too and it kinda sucks when your backed up in traffic but when im going out to my cabin in the country i enjoy it much more

alright.... my auto seems to have a problem... when it changed gears, it pulls back HARD but only for a splt second... and... when i have the pedal 3/4 to the floor..

It works fine when i floor it or accelerate slowly... but i think i'm gonna hafta go with the manual....

BUT! the mechanic said the idle is set too high or somethin.... but he can't fix the problem...

AND! I've always wanted an auto that i could shift manually, but doesn't it cost a pretty penny to rebuild or replace an auto? I'm scared I'm gonna be stuck payin to have the tranny fixed...

200 for a shifter 65 for shift improvement kit, and 250 for a torque converter. 150 dollar install at most. And you will get nice clean shifts in auto mode and if you shift manually you will have even better ones.

does anyone else think that this shouldn't be sucha hard decision?

pro auto:
the gear shift is much faster

pro manual:
fun

me:
confused/unsure

I am the worst decision maker.... sometimes the time it takes me to make a decision is longer than the decision will actually effect me lol

it takes practice...maybe you should get better with a stick before you go and buy one.

i would take my stick over an auto any day but the only down side to that is the fact that i need another clutch, again! every other light those ricers are just waiting for me i swear! and when i get pulled over i am going to tell the cop, look if i let a ricer pull me off the line. what would that say about american cars!? lol ok i am just babeling. its 230 in the morning. but i would request a test drive to see if the clutch is any good first, and make sure the damn windows role down!
p.s. i smoke the auto with same mods as my car, just basic bolt ons(exhst, cai, tune, slick trs) it all depends on who is driving the car.
