Columbus Day Importance
Anyone have classes off today for Columbus Day? I talked to some of my higher ups at my school today to find out we don't have Columbus day off anymore because we now have MLK day off. This was changed last year when all the black students at my school skipped classed on MLK in protest of the classes.
Not a big deal, I don't really mind class, but I was just curious how everyone elses' schools operated. I just think Columbus day is a little more important.

We have Mlk day off as well. We have class on Labor Day and Columbus Day.

I'm not in school but I do work and I got off yesterday. Our schools were still in session. Man it was great to sit around and do nothing.

what did mlk ever do for me? i know columbus "discovered" america and enslaved the natives so his holiday is more important (at least imo). oh well, columbus day is a federal holiday so i get a 4 day weekend out of it.

I work everyday the market is open...
Its closed on MLK but not columbus day as well though. Heres my list of days off ( non-vacation days ) NYSE, New York Stock Exchange > About Us > News & Events > NYSE Calendar
