There is currently a man on craigslist that is requesting items that are for sale, then sending fake checks for more then the stated amount.

My mother put an electric recliner up on craigslist and we were contacted by a man claiming to be a doctor. He asked if we would take done the listing so he could buy it and he would pay 50 dollars more for it. I took the post down and gave him some information on where to send the check. a few weeks later we get this check in a fedex envelope from orlando with a check from a company in new york, with a contact number to a small heating and cooling place in oregon. The check was made out for 3,500 dollars the recliner was being sold for 250. we have not done anything with this check yet, but i have contacted fraud services. be on the look out for this fuck.

you're a little slow on the times bud. what ever you do, do not cash that check. you can get in a lot of trouble for cashing a fake check. also, you probably wont be able to find the guy who sent you the check. did they also ask you to send some of the money back?
