My opinion is .22's are only good for getting yourself sued. They make some 9mm's that aren't to bad to carry on a daily basis.

+1 on the 9mm. subcompact 9mm's FTW. I've fired off a sig sauer 9mm but not a sig sauer .22. If the .22 shoots anything like the 9mm, I'd get it for sure.

lol I'm pretty sure Cricket just wants something to plink with, not for self defense.

I've shot the sig .22 your talking about. I found it not to be as reliable as the Walther P22 I own. Of course this is in no means a carry piece, but it is cheap and fun to go plinking with. Carry pieces hopefully start with a .4 and end with a 5 for the caliber.
Ill post pics if you want of the Walther. I got mine for like 280 bucks plus tax. (Good ole taxachussets)
Also the Walther can accept attachments like a barrel extension, a suppressor (if legal in your state) and a laser sight that mounts on the rails.

I had a nice Ruger .22LR which was accurate and looked really good but I sold it cuz I never really used it enough.
Turns out a few weeks ago my father in law had an old Marlin .22 Magnum LR he gave to me and that thing is FUN!! It's a bolt action and with the magnum you can hunt small to medium size game

listen to this guy. ive owned both of the .22s (sig and walther) and the walther is straight up a much more reliabl and fun gun to shoot.

i have heard alot of good things about the walther p22 also. I enjoy shooting the 22lr rifle i have. Ammo sure is cheap, and its good for getting your shooting mechanics down.

My first rifle was a Cricket 22LR single-bolt action. 100% accurate out of the box. But Crickets are for kids. Picked it up at Walmart for $90

Popped over to the range and shop Shoot Straight in Casselberry and picked up a Titan E-15 22LR revolver single action. I still have this gun. It needs reblueing but the damn gun it lightweight and dead-on.

I then went over to Shooters Den and picked up a FIE 22mag E-15 revolver. I actually got more in trade for this gun then I acutally bought it for. I paid $140, when I traded it in a lot for my 45, they gave me $170 for it.

I picked up a Winchester 94E 30/30 carbine side-eject after that and I miss it ALOT. I was told a few years ago they retail around $500 but mine was worth $700+. I dont believe it as Ive seen then $250 used.

I turned in the 22LR rifle, 22mag revolver and Winchester 94E for a Heritage 45LC single action revolver.

I have a hard on for revolvers. For home defense - I recommend revolvers. Less cleaning and less parts to worry about if youre not a diehead gun enthuisast. 9mm or 7mm for fun shoots.

You can pick up Springfield 9mm for <$300 at most gun range/shops. You can get lesser known brand 9mms for < $200.

My Cricket was $90, Titan 22LR was $90, FIE was $140, Winchester $245 and the value on the Heritage was $419. And every single gun was/is fun as hell to shoot.

IMO a revolver is a shitty self defense weapon when compared to a semi auto. I don't clean my Glock at all, and it carries 13+1 rounds of .40S&W and can be reloaded a hell of a lot faster than a revolver. I'll take a good semi auto over a revolver any day of the week.

damn right, anyone who takes a revolver over a semi has problems. you want as much ammo as you can have without having to reload. But this wasn't about home defense, this was about a .22 pistol

Do any of yall relize that your opinions are completely fucking worthless and off topic to the OP? Or do you just like to read your own fucking words. Wow. Not a single one of you addressed the OP's question, yet you all want to talk ab out the little knowledge you have. This is fucking pathetic. So you have a /22 or 2. Ok. Who gives a fuck. You conceited fucks just talk about your gun and don;t actually pay any attentionm to the actual question at hand. I could talk about my Rugers and Marlin and Remmington and Smith and Wesson .22, but I don't care how ',manly you shits think I am because I talk about the guns my family owns. So why the fuck are you talking about 'home defense' weapons? Pathetic insecure shitheads.

So to anawer the OP, none of these fucks know anything about the question you have asked.

Plus if you have multiple clips (like I do) already loaded its a lot faster tojust shove another clip in there
