Dads New Truck

Well he got a 2010 F150 XLT Crew Cab Short Bed today... I tried to talk him into the diesel, but he would not go for it.... and he actually cannot ride shot gun in ANY 3/4 ton or greater truck that is new... the tranny tunnels are too wide and he cannot bend his left foot far enough to ride comfortably over there... So he was stuck to a 1/2 truck, which means no diesel

Honestly though, I have my 97 beat up old truck, and then I get to drive this one... I personally like my Powerstroke much better... this truck is too nice and just doesn't have the balls my truck has... I mean I will drive it without problems, but my truck just seems like a truck, where it has the features, but not all these surius radios and fancy gadgets like moving pedals and who else knows what... LOL

Dad should be happy with it though... Much better than him looking like a monkey in his Liberty (POS). He is a bigger dude, 325+ and 6'6". I am really curious on what the actual fuel mileage is going to be... it says 14 on the sticker, but we shall see, since that includes the E85. It will be interesting. I know I would never have bought another gasser truck, although this one does seem to have decent power. I also would never buy anything less than a 3/4 ton, but its his truck and he does not need it to haul the trailer or anything. Time will tell, they seem to be built pretty solidly.

If I were buying a new truck, I would have made the same decision he did. I like the comforts of the F150, they ride good, have decent power, and have a nice interior.

I wouldn't want the extra cost initially, or the increased maintenance cost for a diesel. I wouldn't keep it long enough to see the advantages of a diesel, and I don't have a need for one.

Well he keeps his cars for at least 10 years, unless something goes wrong big time.... Like our Heep, where the tranny is shifting like shit at 40K miles....

So I could see getting a diesel because of the resell value it would have when he goes to sell it... He also has the cabin, which is ALOT of highway driving, and we got a tractor out there and I could have seen him using it, but he was totally against it.... Some of the reasons were, added cost, hard to get fuel (I don't know where that comes from), Loud(they aren't any more), black smoke (they are clean stock), and smell (they smell clean now).

But i guess the 150 will tow a flatbed trailer with the tractor on it or what ever he would need for it. But I think personally he will regret the purchase of gas, versus diesel in a few years. I don't think it will be initially, but eventually He might get that feeling.
