They key though is WHO is marketing it as an iPhone competitor.
The big marketing money that I see is ALL put forth by Verizon, who I'm sure would love for Droid to be viewed as a viable alternative to the iPhone, and prevent people from jumping to AT&T. I think looking at functionality, the Android OS is capable of matching everything that the iPhone does, however capability in the OS does NOT mean that Motorola will take advantage of it with this phone, or that Verizon will allow it with such functionality on their network. My biggest fear is that people will not be able to disassociate the Android OS from the Droid phone, and should Droid fail that it will take down Android with it.

The HTC is by no means a "solid phone." In fact its the biggest pile of fail since the razor. Here at Sprint we have had to replace more HTC touch's then any 2 phones, EVER! Its not reliable in any way. It has a lot of cool features like the panoramic camera, yes; but you lucky not to be forced to take the battery out on a daily basis after owning it for a month. Sorry you had to use that terrible phone. Yes nearly all windows mobile phones are complete fail.....Oh and the HTC Touch Pro uses windows mobile btw.

Verzion has an HTC android coming out? Interesting. The Hero that just released with us has been pretty successful and I like it a lot. HTC's phones have been a lot more solid since they started manufacturing their own phones rather than outsourcing them.

Storm ftw. Been reading reviews for a while now and my fiancee is a customer svc rep for Verizon... I used to be a service rep for verizon back when the storm came out. The screen and OS lag were the two big downfalls imo, and they have vastly improved both aspects. I'd go with the storm 2. I know a guy who did the BOGO they have/had going and he got two storms, paid $150, and got $200 in mail in rebates.

alright, so i picked one up. Iphone is still #1 in terms of Touch Responce/smoothness, the Droid is just a tad behind. But If you are on Verizon i still recommend it over the other phones verizon offers. I like it a lot so far. however i have not tried out the BB Storm 2 yet. the phone takes a little getting use to. Keyboard is kinda hard to use. the On screen Keyboard is awesome though. I've just been using that mostly. and the Android OS is nice as well. My only problem with the OS so far is that, to shut down an App you have to go in the settings, then to Running apps, then select your app you want to shut down. This is only for some apps that run in the background. but it's Kinda annoying to have to go through the whole process. it would be nice if they just had an X or something to shut down a program in the uppper right hand corner or something. But overall im happy with it so far. Verizon never had good phones before and this is as good was we are gunna get i think as of right now.
OHHHH and the Turn by Turn GPS is SICk!

HTC Touch Pro2 has nothing but good reviews. To bad it's still $350 on Sprint
![]() I've heard the Verizon version is slightly less functional though...
