Are the V6 stangs really worth it?

I have been into mustangs for a long time but always thought I would be buying the V8 so I never looked to much into the six. I have been looking around online and found alot of people say drop the V6 and buy a real Mustang. I'm sure some of you have seen the thread about the build I am going to start in the summer. I just wondered if you guys though it would be worth building the six or just trade in on an eight when its nearly paid off? With more and more responses on my thread its looking like up to 270 bhp might be possible on the six with enough mods and still be N/A.

This is a tech section for a specific problem bro. There is nothing wrong with a v6. Anything can be fast if you toss enough green a it.

My bad. Though it was just general V6. It can be moved if need be. Just wanted to know what you guys thought. And to tell you the truth even though the 8 sounds good. That six really does sound beautiful and 3800 rpm.

I have had a 3.8 a 4.6 and a 5.0

the 5.0 sounds the best by far.

ya i will give you that the 5.0 sounds amazing. I am not really a fan of the ohc engines they sound kind of different. but they still sound sweet. and i guess it is all up to you. gts are nice and start with more hp and can make more na hp but a 260-270 hp v6 is pretty easy to get. and with boost you will make a ton more power. just do what you want do not let anyone make fun of you. Everyone at my high school gave me crap and said I should have got a real car. Then i would race them and whip all their asses. Even a kid with a 97gt auto i whipped him. that always shuts them up.

Unless you find a cheap V6 imo its worth it and if don't care that much on how a car will look you can get a 99-00 GT for 5k, I paid 5k for mine so that's why i'm looking for a V8 since it will actually be the same money..

Get the V8, you'll be glad you did.

i know the v6 can be fast...i know several blown sixxers and this site has some as well...but there is nothing like the sound of a v8 with Lts and a nice set of mufflers...

come spring time ill be looking into financing a 32valve since my college degree (college FTW) has brought home more money from work

just depends on what you want. IMO it is one of the best choices in the 6 cylinder family that you can get. The motor can handle from what we know close to 700rwhp on stock block and forged internals. more than the 5.0L which cracks alittle after 500rwhp. and stock internals are good til 350rwhp or even more with tune. A guy recently had 474rwhp on stock internals and was doing fine.

The manual and auto tranny's at least on the splitports can handle 350rwhp for a manual and 400rwhp on auto from factory.

I am still on my 7.5 rear with my power and havent had any problems.

the main thing is to skip all the bolt-ons and C/H/I and go straight for the boost.

It would depend on who you ask. I wouldnt recommend a v6 Mustang for a regular day to day driver not looking for a performance car.

You can shell out $3000-$5000 for a v6 and mod it up nicely with dual exhaust, underdrive pulleys, TLOK, gears, CAI, loose some weight and get a respectible car for high performance but if you wanted something for street racing or drag, you need to get a v8.

The proof that the 4.6 sounds better is, you had to find a cammed 5.0 to sound better, than an exhaust 4.6....

You don't need to get a v8.

With the power stang charger is making a v8 is not needed for power. This car will be on road tracks. It dosent need 800 hp to win. Good handling and accel is all it will need.

A V6 Mustang with custom exhaust.

A V8 Mustang.

You decide.
