A certain someone I have sex with on ocassion and gave birth to 2 kids that Im legally responsible for works for a certain company that sells stuff. She buys things for this certain company in huge as amounts. well, last night she brought some of her work home because they've been real busy (uh ohhhs, yes "SaDurday work"..~C~'s thread made me write about this).

anyway, as I nosed through their corporate paper I noticed what was called a "bucket order". I found an order from Levis (the jeans) for like $9,700. I couldnt believe what I seen. Each pair was sold for like $1.01 each. I asked her if there was something wrong with the jeans and she said no. apparently, they get these "lots" of jeans that are all perfectly fine but they are odd sizes or last years designs. They resell them for $15.99- $19.99.

I just thought that was interesting as hell. what a margin! Holy shit! I never wold have thought a retail outlet could buy name brand Levis for $1.01!

I wonder if I can find a way to get my paws on some of these $1.00 Levis and resell them? That would be cooooool.

Child labor FTW. Just kidding. I would hope Levis doesnt partake in that evilness but who knows. Shit, I'd bet Levis manufacturing process is completely automated. Who knows.

I could clean up at flea markets and ebay with jeans that cheap.

this made me lol. but yeah, wow, i always wondered (well not really but kinda) how the outlet stores could sell the name brand clothes so cheap.. i figured it was becasue they bought them in bulk and they were like the 'not 100% perfect' ones that failed inspection or something.. but hmm.. interesting

a lot of small costs eat up that 14-18 dollar profit per pair though. I remember one place I worked at were I could go through their inventory and look up "cost" on a lot of items and some of them were insanely low.

lots of companys practice business like that. how else do you think place's like TJ Max, Stienmart, etc are able to have name brand clothes at dirt cheap.

when a company has already made a million dollars profit selling there stock, and there left with half the stock, it either needs to be destroyed or sold off, because frankly, i don't think a clothing line wants to invest in storage facilites for all of there out of season clothes. anything they sell the item for is going to be considered profit, even if it cost 4x as much to make.
