Anybody picked up a droid yet?

I am planning on either getting this or the Eris. Anyone have any experience?

from what i have heard, it hasnt lived up to the hype at all. the browser is good, but the email takes forever to get to it...i think it has a sent time when it searches for new email, and the lowest setting is like every 5 minutes. they also said the slide out keyboard is completely horrible. i'm gonna go down to verizon soon and check it out myself just to play around with it some.

I played with it....wasn't impressed at all. It didn't help the verizon sales people didn't know their ass from a hole in the ground when it came to anything technical about the phone OR their cell service.

telling you from experience with both phones and from working tech support (not crappy in-store tech, but lvl 2 call center tech) the storm 2 is the better phone.

whys that? software? they are continuing to update that and the just had their developers meeting where they revealed a lot of good things that are coming to blackberry is the next year or so. so im willing to bet within the next few years rim might surpass the iphone in its ability to be smooth, have an awesome browser, etc.

Reason? The first one had some glaring issues but if you bother to do the research you'll find that they're gone. The new OS is a proven one, people are already running it and providing feedback on the storm 1, it runs much faster, and they improved the hardware, especially the screen, drastically. On top of that the Blackberry OS and the BIS user interface is definitely the most reliable, user friendly software out there on a mobile device.

if you must have a touch screen phone then i guess for you one of those 2 is the only option. but if your looking for a good phone id look into a tour. trust me i have went from a bb to another phone and was completley unhappy with how little coustomization you could do with normal phones.

We call it shit mobile here.

BP, I have first hand experience with 5.0 and it did the same thing all other OSs have. Fixed things, and created other problems. I shouldn't have to sit and wait on a update to have a phone that does EVERYTHING they claim it should do. I am a member on crackberry and even people on that site recommend the droid or eris over the storm 2.

Droid and Eris are far from normal phones.
