Yeah, Im going to get one after thanksgiving ( I have to travel all over the place for a week surrounding thanksgiving ). I think I will get this Lab/Dalmation mix and get this, his name is Cammer ( as in the 450hp n/a 5.0 ). Sounds like fate to me...

I'm one of the people that advocates AGAINST getting a puppy. There's a lot of older shelter dogs out there that can't find homes because of the people that insist on getting puppies. Older dogs are almost always trained, and they'll have a sense of appreciation for being rescued from the pound (Seriously, pound dogs KNOW what you've saved them from, puppies not so much).

Both of my dogs are older rescues, picked up my lab when he was about 2, and my half-pug a year later when she was about 3. My lab had some behavioral problems when I got him, but once he realized he was in a stable pack that had a stable alpha (me), he calmed right down.
+1 they do know they have been 'rescued.' My 85 pound mutt-mix I mentioned was a neighborhood stray. She was just a pup when she stopped by. We were washing a car and she came to drink the water.

For those who have multiple dogs do you regret getting the second dog or has it been a huge hassel?
I could not be happier having a second dog, Im sure my first dog feels the same!

I love having my girls! It IS more work for more dogs, and if your current dog spends a lot of time at home alone, do NOT get a puppy. Adopt from a shelter or something, but puppies require A LOT of time and attention. Not only does it sound like you don't have a lot of time, if you did, your current dog might get jealous.
