GSr c1 turbo water in engine wtf?!

My cousins car- honda civic with a gsr c1 running turbo running 8 lbs boost went through a big puddle. Engine stopped and we started it and sounds like the valve is hitting on cylinger # 4. So my question is....do we look to start a rebuild? what happens when you get water in the engine?

usually if its alot it will seize up, us rednecks like to call it taking a drink. you should be able to dry it up since it doesnt sound like you got a large amount in the engine

yeah we are going to pull it apart tomorrow. I just wish I knew exactly what happens when you get water in a little 4 cylinder like that or any car for that matter

ive hydrolocked my dodge truck about 30 or so times lol. i just take it apart down to the intake manifold and spray it with carb cleaner or somethin and let it dry out. point is. it might have just needed to sit for a while and dry out.

I think you should seize the opportunity and change the engine.

Poor little engine downed by a drop or two of water..

Seriously I dont think you need a rebuilt. Might just have to tear a couple things off and make sure everything is good in there.

it's very possible he bent a piston or broke a valve. This was very common with hydrolock in the ford focus. The water doesn't explode in the cylinder, thus causing things to warp and bend, especially on a little four cylinder. Even more so when it's running boost. Take it apart and dry it out, but don't be surprised if you're putting in a new piston, valves, something to that extent.

those motors are timed with a belt right? Its possible the timing got messed up, which would cause piston to valve contact. Do a compression test and see what you get. If somethin is hitting your already screwed.
