Cruise For The Fallen

Hey guys and gals...

Haven't been on the site in many moons, but I just got done with the single greatest weekend of giving EVER and had to share my story. I hope this story gets around MM and goes to show how incredible the Mustang community truly, truly is.

This past weekend I took part in what I would call just the two most wonderful causes around the sound (pacific northwest's Puget Sound). If/when you have time, I'm inviting you to take a quick peek at the linked information to see what all happened.

For those outside of Washington state perhaps you haven't heard, but we've recently been hit with some serious tragedies, where off the clock police officers were gunned down intentionally in our local Cars And Coffee meeting location, in cold blood. I decided to act and gather friends and have a memorial cruise in their honor. If you read up a little, you'll see that I knew one of the killers personally. I took this to heart because of that.

On Saturday the Mustang club (Stang Nation) and I cruised to the Forza in Lakewood, WA in honor of the 4 fallen Lakewood police officers and 1 Seattle Police Officer. I'd go into detail but, Komo News showed up at my request and here is a link to their coverage. Yes, I am in it towards the end ;-) A friend and I organized the whole thing, and WOW what a turnout!

You'll need sound ;-) And P.S. I'm in the red '99 Cobra/Roush shiny thing.

Then yesterday, Sunday, we cruised to the XXX Rootbeer Drive-In, in Issaquah, WA, and met with a local Chevy club (amongst others) and all gave hundreds if not thousands of new toys to Toys For Tots.

Here are a couple of links to some pictures, not sure if they'll work for ya but if they do then great... When I have time I will post pictures in the proper section, but for now these ought to do.

Thought I would share, couldn't be more proud to be apart of such a great community, and what a time to be giving back. 'Twas a little cold outside though with highs in the 20's!

Wow dood that sucks. Good idea and good set up.

I cant believe you knew one of the killers. This may be an inappropriate question but i haven't been in a situation like this before. Will you ever forgive the person you knew that helped kill the cops? I didn't see why they did it was there a reason or was it just because they were cops?

You don't have to answer any questions if you don't want to.

Thank you, and yes, quite the turnout!

To the question: no. I can't forgive and I will never forget. He was the nicest person in the world. Went to the UW with me, played bass in my band, had him over for dinner, drank with him in Seattle, known him for about 5 years. Thought he was around 25-30, turns out he's 42 years old. Never had a grudge, was well educated. Never saw a gun in his apartment. Never knew he was blowing up police cars. He rigged his apartment complex to blow if the cops swarmed his place. Unreal! No, I won't forget. The officer he killed was a friend of a friend, though only coincidental. He's going to be convicted of 1st degree murder, 5 counts of attempted 1st degree murder, 2 counts of 1st degree arson, and a couple 2nd degree counts of illegal firearms.

Only thing left now is to see if he goes in for life, or gets the happy injection. Washington has the death penalty, though we usually send our bad boys to Texas for whatever political reason. He was shot upon apprehension and is in a hospital, paralyzed from the waist down.

I would like to ask him why, but it doesn't really matter.

damn kevin. absolutely amazing. i really really wish i could have made it to this, its only a 20 minute drive from my house if that. i miss cruising a lot, but my mustang hasn't been agreeing with me lately. 250 miles after getting my new engine together a bearing went out in the procharger. so its apart again, sitting there in the garage freshly detailed and shining brighter than ever.. and i can't even drive it

huge reps to you man!

Thanks bob! yeah if I had an open seat I would have texted you to see if you wanted to ride along. 55 cars, mostly badass V8s at that, and a couple retired state patrol stangs too. Was awesome.

Sorry to hear about the Procharger. Damn money pit isn't it?! My Vortech still waits to be installed, so does my new built '04 IRS.
