converting....

well guys after recently finding out i have a pump about 10 miles from me, I think im going to be converting the car over to E85. Tuner says just by switching to the E85, will increase the hp about 50hp. With the high compression, this will also allow me to run boost if I want to as well.. Hopefully this will be happening after I recieve my tax return.

Thoughts?

Your closest e85 is 10 miles away? Yikes. I have one down the street at a few places.

And there is a site where you can go and alot of cars and run the e85 already.. I forget what years and models. Whats the switch over consist of?

Edit: I guess Mustangs aint one of them!! LOL

well thanks man, to be honest im not sure what all consists of switching over.. i know the tune will have to be adjusted, because running the E85 causes the engine to run much hotter than it normally would..

If the car is a daily driver car, I'd stay away from it....there is nothing worse than getting low on gas and having to search out a place to fill up the tank. Also, if you were to take a road trip in the car, you'd have to plan a route around where to stop for gas. Now if you can set up the car to run a flex fuel setup, then it wouldn't be an issue...but don't think you can on your car.

I wouldn't do the switch until you have the beater then.

just get the tune on a flip switch.... so you can have a pump gas tune and an E85 tune....

I know of quite a few guys running it in thier daily drivers and they do it like that, or have two tunes on a handheld. Then you need a cobra pump atleast and bigger injectors...

Whats the point of this? If its to save money, look at all the money your going to spend just to save 0.20 at the pump.

yep 105 octane... it burns so much cleaner too, but has less energy potential than normal race fuel, just like biodiesel, most people wont notice the difference though.

If its like racefuel whats the importance of cars like a taurus or focus being able to run it?

ok guys, buy no means is this to save money.. this is just an idea to gain as much horsepower as possible. I do know that E85 is like racefuel and runs cooler and cleaner than regular fuel. As said before, this is NOT going to be my DD so I'm not looking to save money or anything along those lines.

Also with the E85, it will allow me to run boost on my 12:1 compression motor, as where normal 93oct will not.
