If you turn the top face at an angle to the rest of the cube you can pull the center piece out.

Ya my OIC on my last deployment explained it to me. I spent 6 months teaching everyone in my detachment after that. 60 secs was my average cause I never learned the corner to corner method. But I taught a guy with a MUCH lower than average iQ in about a week so...

Well the entire beginning is basically all knowing the cube and how it works... the last steps can be done with algorithms..

But yes youtube has it's resources.

It's a damn good skill to learn though. I was helping my dad at his Lab a few weeks ago and one of his investors came in to check on progress, well I was waiting for my dad to finish what he was doing and playing with his Boss's cube. His investor saw me and we spent like 30 minutes going back and forth racing to see who could do it faster. I whipped his fuckin ASS every time by like no less than 45 seconds. He told my dad at a meeting a few days later that he decided to give them their second round of funding because his son beat him at the rubiks cube... (now I know he was joking, but I don't doubt that it made him more comfortable with their shiz)

That's because you were doing it wrong... Until the very last step you should only have 2 sides done... Top and bottom.

But that means you have more than enough brain juices to figure it out...

I can solve it in about 2 minutes. I just rip it all apart then put it back together.

They were wrong though, you pull out all the pieces except the middle ones.

like so, although I find a quarter works the best:

Dude, why would you lie about something so stupid. YOU CAN NOT COMPLETE 5 SIDES AND HAVE THE 6TH INCOMPLETE.

Think about the cube and how it works. There's 6 sides: blue, white, yellow, red, green, and orange. Lets say you have the bottom done and all the sides. We'll say the top is white. This means that the sides are orange, green, blue, and red. I'm only going to be concerned w/ the top ROW of the sides.

The top row contains 4 corner pieces and 4 center pieces (for the row). The corner pieces have the colors: [white, red, green] [white, green, orange] [white, orange, blue] [white, blue, red]. The center pieces have the colors: [white, red] [white, green] [white, orange] [white, blue].

Now, in order to have the sides complete they must have all of their colors in the correct location. Basically, the [white, orange, blue] piece MUST be in the top right corner of the orange side or else the green or blue side will be incorrect.

Once you get 5 sides complete, the cube is solved. Based on simple knowledge of a rubik's cube, you lie.
