Thoughts on Hi Points
What do you think about HI POINT 45 acp??
I mean for the price, just to have a gun in the house and shoot every now and then at the range?? I know they are not the most accurate and i have heard some shit about if you use cheap ammo they may jam every now and then? I was looking at this one for 229$ Gander Mountain® > - Firearms > Handguns > Semi-Auto Pistols :

I only hit up discount tobacco stores. Do you have what it takes to be a tobacco exec? They are a POS but for the money. I put 100 rounds through and it jammed 6 times. That does not make me cry and it wont be the gun I grab for self defense unless it happens to be all that's available.

I believe a personal defense weapon should never be fed crap ammo, but also the gun can't be crap to start with.

I just dont have them anymore and would really like to have another pistol in my house. But like you said I don't want it to jam when I need it most. I will just wait a bit and buy a quality piece. Because I never want to be in that situation period yet alone with a gun that's known for jamming. I was looking at a glock and a sig but I seen that and figured see what some people had to say.

I think you would have a better chance of killing your target by throwing a hi-point at them seeing that they weight about 10 pounds.
Don't trust your life to some cheap piece of shit.

I am not a fan of pistol grip shotguns. If you are in a close quarter fight it is nice to have the butt of the gun to use when you run out. But to each his own.
And here is the reason why hipoints jam alot ![]() Notice the weak wristed pussy and his professional form. You have to have a firm grip to shoot without jamming and this guy is pure garbage.

we have one. dont shoot it that often really but usually have no problems with it jamming. only time it does is when our reloads arent resized right. whatever wont feed through the colt will shoot in the hi point everytime. the post about the weight of them is right though, we call ours the brick. get in a gun fight with it and when youre out of ammo just launch the gun at them itll probably kill someone haha.

How much is your life worth? That is the question I asked everyone who came in to buy a HiPoint/Jennings/Bryco from the store I worked at for many many moons. We were also a range, so I saw first hand what happens to these guns on a daily basis. Lots of jamming, lots of parts breakage. They do not hold up in the long run. I have seen them break and just keep shooting until the magazine is empty. This was on more then one occasion. IMO you are better off finding something used from a quality manufacturer. You can find used Taurus revolvers, yes Taurus is a good company, for around the same price if you look long enough. I would much a Taurus revolver in my pocket then a HiPoint anything. If money is tight, you can also look at Bersa .380s. They are not a high quality like a Glock or Sig. I would not even put them on line with Taurus. However they are a reliable inexpensive gun. I bought one just to see what they were about. This was about 10 years ago. I ran thousands of rounds of range/ball ammo and a few hundred rounds of hollow points. I never had a problem with it.
