Might Get a D3000

For you camera guys, someone offered to buy my D60 for a bit more than its worth, but the only thing in my price range would be a D3000. From reading, the D3000 replaced the D60 and isn't too much different except for a few things like the autofocus system and a few other small differences. Would you sell it? Is it worth learning a new camera?

the d3000 isn't much better than the d60. i'd suggest to continue learning on your camera and if you want to upgrade, save up for a while and get a semi-professional camera.

Just keep your D60, the D3000 is definitely not an upgrade. Go look at the reviews of it on Ken Rockwell. Right in the intro on the rockwell site, he states that the d3000 is the worst camera nikon has built. Your d60 will outperform it on FPS, higher ISO's and a few other things.

i wouldnt think the software on the d3000 is any different then the d60. maybe minimal changes. either way it be the same concept so why not upgrade

Did you even read the link? The D3000 is not an upgrade, in many ways it is a downgrade. Just because its new, doesnt make it better.

The D5000 is a decent upgrade, but not much more than for the movie mode. I'd say that if you want to upgrade, sell the camera for profit, then save up the money for a D90.

when i went to get a camera, the d3000 was 12Mp where as the d40 was only 6Mp, now that doesnt affect anything unless your making it really big and printing it out. the d3000 also had the vibration reduction lense with it, the d40 did not, which is all good. it only makes a bit of difference for dark shots where you slow the shutter speed down. it may shoot like half a fps faster than the d4 as well, but it was 100 bucks more, so i couldnt justify it, and went with the d40 which is a great camera imo

NP man. After reading through all the stuff on the d3000, it's rather sad to see that nikon put out such a crappy camera.

yea, i talked to 5 people i work with who are avid photography hobbiest, and they all said hands down D40 is better than D3000
