2) Anyone cut out the side of your xbox?

By change the led's i assume you mean the power button and the ring correct? If so, then all I have to say is....Don't even try. lol Not to be rude in any way, but if you have to ask for tips on how to solder, then i'm sure you wont be able to solder to the extremely small points the led's use. If you can, then by all means go for it and prove me wrong

As for cutting out the side. I have done it and it's something anybody could do (if they take enough time that is). If you have a dremel, then just use the plastic cutting tool to cut out your design. Mount a piece of plexi-glass behind it and you're done

These aren't pics of the led's on the front of the xbox, but this is similar in size. I put a dime in the picture for reference lol

And that stuff isn't small at all, you wanna solder something small how about going down 3 layers into a multi layer board and repairing a run that is no wider than a stand of hair. lol. But on to the subject at hand, i wouldn't recommend if you haven't soldered before trying to mess with anything on the xbox since they are smaller components.

to safi, yes Im changing the ring lights, its on a spare box so no worries I can solder but damn!!! those are small I need a smaller tip Ive already got one of the old lights off (I dont have any tools to get the old solder out going to buy one) and I ordered my new lights. I have it under control I didnt know of any tools to use to get the old solder out but I found one. (whole reason for this post about soldering lol ive never taken it off just put it on)

I do however have a question about the circuit board what happens if I accident burn that or is it hard to burn?

The xbox case I have already done that and realized its not bad just takes time Im more of a perfectionist on crap so it doesnt look perfect yet so im still working on it ugh.

What is that pic of what are those wires your running? Im just getting into all this technical stuff its awesome Im building a laser right now as I switched back and forth on the forum lol.

Im talking about one of the new ones I like them but yeah they are priced very high

so my main focus is on tacoma and wrangler im torn I love the wrangler but love the tacoma

I think I can get a decent tacoma for that no luck with the wrangler though for that price without a payment

yeah i took 2 classes in the navy for soldering, the second class was all micro miniature components and board runs that were under 2 or 3 layers on board, repaired them and built them back up to working level and had to test. Used components so small that you couldn't really see them at all without a magnifying scope. But hey thats how i roll lol

yeah i wish i had some of my old stuff now, don't have much but a soldering iron now and solder, no other tips or nothing. But my job now doesn't really call for much soldering

before you tear into a nice working xbox why not go on craigslist and snag up one of the millions of 50 dollar boxes that got banned from live that people are getting rid of and play with it. that way when you do break it you wont be completley fucked

or a better method...Just buy the actual ROL/power button thing. It's a separate piece, so you can buy it, try changing the led's, put it in and see if it works. If it doesn't then you can just put your stock one back in

im pretty sure you can buy the RF board aftermarket with diff colored leds already in. pretty easy swap if you have the xbox apart
