The 870 is a fantastic gun, but so is the mossy. Cant go wrong with either. We use the 870 at work (prison) and ive never seen one fail.

Guns aren't something to be cheap about... $600 for a badass shotgun isn't much when you're talking about home protection.

Why would you need a shotgun to hold 21 rounds? It's not like he's in Afghanistan clearing rooms of the Talibahn.

I have a 1979 Ithaca 37 Featherlight 12-Gauge.

It'd an awesome gun, and I love the bottom ejection system.

I really want the Stakeout model though! O_O

I think New England Firearms makes a defense style shotgun...........I have one, just can't remember the name. It is almost an EXACT copy of an 870 Remington with a few minor changes that can't even be detected by the eye really. I picked mine up a year or two ago at Academy for less than 200 bucks, and that's with tax. Awesome gun, very reliable. Like I said, it is a Remington 870 with another name on it. Its solid black, 18"

ive had a 590 and a benelli. i liked both. they both have nice features. both shoot and wont misfire.

im still particular to my ithaca. next ill build an 870. just buy whatevers in your price from any brand, i stay away from NEF but only had problems out of one when we were shooting 3" slugs. most shotguns are reliable.

i have to say i love my 870 16ga. yea, 16ga. When i was like 14, i saw a commercial for a 16ga 870 pump and wanted it cuz my dad was using a 16ga at the time, so i got it. Cant find different chokes for it though. Great gun though.

get the 870...;. its not nessecarily the better shotgun than a 500 or 590, but its a si ple, cheap and lots of accesories...... skip out on that pistol grip crap.... if you must have one, get a stock with a pistol grip attached. itll make the gun easier to handle and control recoil...
