A 5 foot long bolt action mosin nagant with a nonfitting 10 foot bayonet is not practical for defence of my house, if someone decides to steal the bricks that my fireplace is made of. Ok, not really. I just want a damn shotgun for the hell of it.

I've been thinking of getting a shotty someday after my car is done (for now) and after i get whatever else i want first (ex: laptop, other stuff...) Not sure if i will go through with it or not, but hey?


sooooo being that i'm not too knowleged about guns in general, what type of shotgun would be good? i'm not looking to blow too much money on it, just something cheap, like this.

how are these pistol grip mossberg 500's? They seem more practical for narrow halls and small rooms.

and i swear i saw one in an academy or gander mountain ad, with a pistol grip. I found one online on gander mountain, but it has some sort of barrel extention on it.

the one i saw in the paper add didn't have the cylindrical stabilizer or whatever that is at the end and it wasn't flat black. It cost $350, not $450

yeah i was lookin at that too. I like the pistol grip, but it cost like $100 more. I mean i can afford it, because that's not too expensive, but it's not something i'm gonna be using everyday so i'm not looking to spend that much.

that thing is perfect for a tactical shotgun, i have one for shooting skeet but i don't have one for home defense......

Skip the pistol grips b/c they are crap. Know how to shoot your gun and a pistol grip is just a hindrance (unless you want the "cool" factor of the grip).

I bought the remington 870 "home defense" It comes with an extension and it is a 18" barrel. Holds 6+1. And it is all black. I got the gun, a case, a cleaning kit, and 20 "00 buck" (double ought) shells all for $400 even. Best purchase of my life.

It's mostly all about your personal preference about feel, looks, etc... But the safety on the maverick 88 is slightly awkward to use. It's a good gun, pretty cheap.

But with 10 million 870 customers, remington has to have something special

I don't like guns.. they tend to wake the children. I would rather disable the would be robber in a way that gets national attention. Something like a Chinese star throwing machine.

I have a Mossberg 500A tactical with a 7 shell magazine and a normal stock. This thing is awesome, and reliable as hell.
