help with fish tank

alright...i have never owned one...just got it for free from my sister. i went and got a heater and a filter system....i couldnt find a glass hood

so i just cleaned it in the shower...i didnt you soap because i didnt know if it would harm the fish...

so now i got the rocks...and i wanna fill it with water...i know before i put fish the temps have to be right and you have to treat the water...can anyone help me with the steps of what i need to do...

Put the water in, treat it, leave it for a week and then put fish in... should be fine. If you put them in before the water cycles they will die

my sister said its 35 gal....im thinking its something else since i didnt see anything about 35 gals at petsmart....

im going to measure it and do the math some time....i got to go tomorrow and buy the stuff to treat it and im going to put the water in tonight

just make sure that the fish ( bag/water) temp is the same before you toss the fish in.

yeah ive seen my brother take care of his tanks alot....you set the bag in the water for like 30 mins or something right....

Ya you can do that for the more fragile fish. alot of fish can handle temp changes

There is also a forum on there. If you want mean ones get the ones called red devils lol I want mine to die, but they keep reproducing and right now I dont have the money to get cool blue and yellow ones. When you go to the store to pick some up (two at a time so you wont shock the tank with overload) Note what kind they are, I forgot and when I went back I just went to the African cichlid spot that had about 6 diffrent tanks and picked 2 more up that are mean as shit.

Here is my tank before I moved. The fish @ 31 seconds is orange now and chases all the other fish off, he even tries to bite me when I siphon the gravel

One thing I learned, don't measure the pH straight out of the faucet. If you want to add water after your tank is established, stick an air stone in the water over night and let all the gases escape.

No, you can add a little AQUARIUM salt for trace elements, but don't confuse it with marine salt.

The hard thing to do...is not fuck with it lol

They say change the water every week....I have gone 6 months with out changing them, sometimes I will go a week without feeding them.
