Anyone here running a stand alone engine mgt system?

I've looked into F.A.S.T. and DFI and AEM. But all over $2K when you said and done. I've spent way too much on this engine build already and don't want to sink another $2K.

I have a friend running a "MegaSquirt" stand alone. Anyone here have any experience with them? Looks kinda cool. I'm going to try it. I can build the latest version with wideband and full data for about $600. Price is right!

Check it out.

Or google megasquirt

I don't know much about them, other than their a good idea for really high hp fuelie pre-obd2 cars. The megasquirt, isn't that just fuel management only? I'm pretty sure the spark management is the biggest problem with the 5.0 ecu's.

And a standalone fuel management system... Not a bad way to spend 10,000 dollars... Vin Diesel-Slo and the hilarious

You got one of them there CorBorATors on top yours right? Like they had in the 50's? Anything that controls fuel with out wires is just pure fucking magic as far as I'm concerned.

Mike, its just me but you did spend alot on your motor, so why go half ass on the tuning. I would maybe check into the PMS system i heard a couple of good things about it. I know its hard to spend alot of money on stuff like that but i think it would be worth the investment in time. Just like your motor.

Check into SAFCs also.

they're made by a'pexi. You'll have to get your own link.

The PMS is a piggy back system and I want standalone. Its much more capible of controling EVERYTHING. I've don the reasearch and its not "half ass" system. I spoke to one of the best tuners in the drea Jeff of CAM in N.C. and he also oked the system. I just want somthing I can tune. I want to learn it! And like the rest of the car I want to build it. Check out there site there is alot of very powerfull cars running the system worldwide. Its also can run my new electric fans, electronic boost controler (when the turbo upgrade), the shift lights...one for each gear. Neet stuff like that. This system with wideband control also can do "target air fuel" meaning you can imput an AF setting like 11.5:1 and it will ajust the motor to hit that # on the fly. Very high tech. PMS, AEM don't offer that. Its also going to clean up the under hood wireing ALOT! Much less mess there. Read up on it...its cool.

well i didn't know it did all that and if CAM says they like it then i would probrably go with it cause those guys know what they are talking about when it comes to tuning the stand alone systems.
