plastic grocery bag

I just thought I'd post this because its so stupid. I was driving on the highway about 2 months back and noticed a white grocery bag blowing across the street. Like a moron, I decided to go ahead and run it over. So I drive over it and look in my mirror to see it behind me but it never appeared. At the time I just figured it blew in a direction I couldnt see or something. I continued on driving and didnt think much of it. About an hour later I arrived home and pulled into the garage. As soon as I turned off the car and opened my door, I smelled something in the garage burning badly. I freiked out a bit and damn near forgot to reopen the garage door to pull my car back out. I checked everything from the garage door opener to the breaker box. The smell went away in the garage ( because my car was parked outside) so I just forgot about it until the next day.
I ended up figureing it out a few days later after driving the car some miles. The bag wrapped itself around my cat converter and melted. To this day, everytime the car gets hot, it smells like a burning diaper around my car. Ive tried everything to peel, scrape, scrub it off. It seems to be stuck for good. Does anyone know if this will hurt anything??? Any ideas on how to get it off or am I just stuck with it till it burns off? Now I know plastic bags are bad for wild animals... including Mustangs.

Umm get under there and scrape man that sounds real annoying but as long as it is on the outside i can't think of a problem

hhahaha i have the same problem. i was cruising down the highway and some plastic like grass stuff like you have at easter time blew out of the back of this truck. i couldnt dodge it so went over it. well never saw it come out the back. ive tried scraping it off but it wont come off. it got caught on the h part of the hpipe and its smeels like burning plastic now when i get out of the car

that blows. my uncle ran over something(i wanna say he said rope, not sure though) and it twisted around the driveshaft and had to take off the driveshaft to take it off.

you could cut the heat shield off of the cat. It really serves no purpose. that will get the bag off. just be careful no tto cut into the cat

this might be a bad case of redneck engineering, but why not hold up a blow torch to it and melt it all off?

yeah.. that has happened to me before too.. but the smell went away.. and now i'm deathly afraid of plastic bags in the road.. it was such a horrible smell!! *gag*

I always try to miss the bags I go for the samll children......the smell like Bar B Q when the car get's hot. Yea I know I'm sick! But al least I miss the puppies!

you could always run over a skunk, then you wouldn't notice the other smell so much

to get it off you could try using paint thinner, could melt it off, but if you do make sure you wear a face mask, those fumes can be harmfull

I cought a plastic bag with the front of my radiator once. It caused the car to overheat and the cap blew its guts everywhere. That really sucked
