Nav/DVD Bypass...

Ok, So Im going to get my Pioneer avic-D3 hooked up in my explorer this weekend. Does anyone know how to bypass the system that only allows the NAV/DVD to be used when in Park? I think I remember reading somewhere awhile back that all you had to do was ground the parking brake wire.

Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

Whats the toggle for? Its not like you would lose any functions by grounding out the ebrake wire. right?

Because with mine, the system wouldn't work unless the parking brake was engaged, disengaged, and then engaged again, so I would just flick the toggle switch.

I had a Pioneer 4100.

Avic D-3 specific model is bypassed in the following manner:

1. Remove the yellow and black mute wire.
2. Place the Mute wire in the slot directly above where you removed it from.
3. connect the mute wire, green parking brake wire, and ground wire together - no wire taps, solder them together.
5. GROUND the BLACK WIRE normally via wiring harness or hard ground.

i was looking into a pioneer for a long time, and found that. a friend suggested a toggle switch but that sounded like to much for my brain to remember everytime i got in my car. a relay does that all for ya a little more automatically.

The avic series is smarter than that. Not only do you have to run a switch on the ground but you have to hack the software. The software will not allow the other functions to operate over a certain speed. I think it is 5mph.
From what I read on the avic forum you can change the parameter to somewhere around 165mph.

Actually it kills multiple things, shuts down the movie by motion, also disables use of Nav entries. In other word you wouldn't be able to enter an address or search for a point of interest while in motion.. The bypass over rides this and you get full functionality of all nav tools.

Does that open up the back up camera for use while driving? You know for those random cases where there is a hot chick behind you..

Something like this...

It does, but you don't get that angle, at least not in a mustang. If I remember correctly your doin this on the explorer and you might get a higher vantage point. If you that stuff in Indiana on the regular, I'm moving..
