Need MMs Prayers

So as some of you know, and some of you don't, my 11 year old niece lives with me and I've been her legal guardian with shared custody for the last couple of years, and now have full custody of her. I adore her, and she is such a wonderful girl. Back to the point, she has been really sick lately, in and out of the hospital. It had progressed from every few months, to regularly every month. It's been so hard for her to go through, and I've not even been getting 3 full weeks of work/month because of how sick she's been. She was diagnosed with a weak immune system, as she kept developing flu type illnesses. Well she's been treated for this and just ended up in the hospital yet again. They diagnosed her with leukemia, her current state looks alright, but think based on her illness over the last 6 months that it's a very aggressive form. We've seen the hospital specialist briefly, and are going to see a pediatric cancer specialist this week. I basically haven't slept since we got the news, I'm running on empty and just need some good news. So I'm hoping when we see the specialist we'll hear some good things about her condition and her treatment options. My baby girl really need MMs thoughts/prayers right now.

I know how it feels to have someone going in and out of hospital care. Let's put it in God's hands and see what he plans to do in her life. I'm sure that God has a plan in which will lead to something great.

One word of advice...please get second opinions and drill every doctor out there to help her....unfortunately, some doctors are worse than others.

Thank you guys, it really means a lot. The poor girl is only 11 and has SUCH a bright future ahead of her. I mean I know everyone thinks their child is extremely talented, but I ride and show horses at an international level and didn't have the riding talent she does at that age. She is also just brilliant, and not just in the book-smart way, is the life-smart way. Which is impressive at 11. She really could make a lot of wonderful contributions to the world, and I just hope she gets her shot.

We're seeing a really great specialist, he dealt with another family member so I'm crossing my fingers. But we'll try every doctor out there if it means giving her a better chance at fighting this. It's been a fight with the insurance companies tooth and nail to get any kind of money towards second opinions already, and we've just seen a generic leukemia specialist, not a pediatric one. I work three jobs and have the best insurance for Madi and me that I can afford, but it's just ridiculous.

) Look, regardless of what the doctors say, your biggest job will to be a positive role model to her...do all of the things you are doing now, and just keep at it. The best cure for cancer is not medicine, it is laughter and knowing others will support you, the human brain is an amazing thing!

the good thing about leukemia is the chemo isn't too tough on the body.. only downside is treatment time is about 3 years

You know for a fact you had our prayers before we even read what the prayer was needed for.

Best wishes to your family and for your niece. Thats horrible news but, God will take care of you and your niece.

Nothing more important in this world than children and nothing more life altering than a sick child. She's lucky to have you too you know.

what type of leukemia is it? The treatments have gotten alot better and the success rate is much better than it has ever been. Its not a death sentence by any means. I will keep you and the kid in my prayers. She will pull through ok!!!!!

I just prayed for her as soon as I read your first post. I'm sorry to hear all this. I hate for anyone to be sick, but when it happens to little children it just breaks my heart in two.

Just remember that God is in charge and he knows what is best, no matter what. Even if things get as bad as possible, he'll be there.
