I like smartphones in general, I currently carry an iPhone, and it is a toy, it keeps me busy when I'm out in the field with nothing else to do.

There will alway be a place in my heart for blackberry, I look forward to getting another.

Ok, now i get what you're saying. That sounds pretty cool, but it's just as easy to open up the Weather Channel or the CNN app.

No, you can't do it without jailbreaking, but there is no reason not to. It is really easy, and if for whatever reason the phone needs to be returned to stock you can do so and nobody will be the wiser.

after about a month of having it. i was worried at first because it was still kinda iffy, but now it seems that they have everything pretty much fool proof.

if you meant actual time to root, it's just a matter of minutes. there's a lot of roms out there now you can load up now too. after i rooted mine, i put on the droidmod rom. just put on a nice little theme too. overclocked to 1.2ghz. thing runs like a dream

rooting gives you superuser permissions to the phone. it's like jailbreaking an ipod.
first off you should read this:

when modifying anything after rooting make sure you make a nandroid backup so you can restore your phone if you mess up something. i can answer questions to an extent if you have any. it does void your warranty just as jailbreaking does, but if you have any problems just unroot and put it back to stock and take it in for service.

some of the cool stuff rooting allows is getting access to stuff like wifi tethering and overclocking.

this is the ROM im running right now. you dont have to run a rom or anything to have root, but ROMs generally have cool features. this one has a lot of the 2.1 update stuff in it that hasnt been released yet.

My Razr went out a week and a half ago. Got the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G 8GB, and man, it kicks ASS!

I love IT! Honestly, I like it better than my dad's Blackberry by an infinite amount. The Swype keyboard is fuckin genius and works like a charm 99% of the time.

i havent looked into where to get them, but there some already on the phone if you loaded droidmod. just hit the menu button > wallpapers > live wallpapers.

speeds up the phone, but they say you can burn up the processor if it gets too hot. i'm running mine at 1.2 ghz though and have the safety profile set so that if the temp gets up to 40 degrees celsius then it will back it down to 500mhz so i have had no problems with it at all.

looks like a new rom that is fast on its own has just come out too. so i might be making a switch soon.

forgot to mention that you will get multitouch browser too and im not sure but the new gallery might come with it too. i've had that for a little while on its own though

haha thats the same thing i did for a while, then just jumped it up. use the setcpu widget and you can keep an eye on the temp. and your speeds.
