mikebert, i think we missed our generation, cause if i could go back in time i would go back to the glory days of muscle cars and rum runners, have a modded stang for the day, and at night some modified ford sedan to run in

We did, man. Fuck air conditioning and cellphones and laptops and the internet and emissions controls and police radios and the Gas Crisis. Let me live in that day, I swear I'll never look back.

I'm born and raised in Augusta, Georgia. My father was raised in Savannah, Georgia. His father lived in Alabama and Savannah. His father. . .well, he came fresh off the boat from Greece. My mother was from Chicago, pure Italian. I was never raised on a farm or anything that resembles a redneck lifestyle. I don't want to be a redneck, but I want to be like those country boys. They were made of something different.

I read something somewhere about how whenever this guy is asked why he does something one way or the other, even just little things, he always responds "It is the way of my people."

All this? The runners, the stills, the horspower, the work, the recognition, the risk, the money? That's where I belong. They are my people. This is the way of my people.

they were made of something different, you take a look at my cousins up in south dakota (all farmers) their all different than what you typically meet, but in a good way, i go up their and just love it. not that i would want to own a farm, but i'm just the kind of guy that loves to fish hunt and race cars, and every one of my cousins up there are like that. it's like a taste of something i missed.

Yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong - there are a lot of dumbass rednecks in Georgia. But society just seems ready to pick on people that are either country folk or from the South. (We don't all fuck out sisters. Some of us have ugly sisters!)

But this conversation makes me seriously want to burn my Computer Science degree the second they put it in my hand. I just wouldn't know where to run to. Where do you find people like this anymore?

like i said south or north dakota, most of wyoming, nebraska, some places in tennasy, those kinds of places that are just small towns. if you want to know one of my favorite places is kimball south dakota and brittain south dakota, their small small towns, but have that old school charm where people actually say helo to you and they are good people, and besides that there arn't too many liberals who make it in these types of towns, to many republicans which for me is yet another plus, also theirs a few places in texas like that, where the rockies end. the other place i like are the black hills, just awsome their and freindly people

Perhaps I should plan to move in the next year.

I may have to check ahead for emissions testing though

No, they all sounds like good people. I wouldn't worry about it. Now I just need to find a job out there.

Dudes thats why I live in a small Kansas town (actually I live several miles away from it out in the country) people here are still like that. Its cool I want to grow up and live my life like them and be good folk too and hopefully have my kids brought up the same way I was.
