i guess technically, it could have been the wrong dog, but it fit the description, and was aggressive towards me. so i took the action and killed him. yes, i made sure i was clear behind the animal before i shot. if i was not, i would have gotten back in the truck and waited for the right time. i dont regret it, and admitting it on the internet is not really something im worried about. the cops were there, and 2 out of 3 were in agreeaince with the decision that i made.

The only issue is if by some chance that dog's owner stands up and decides to sue you cause you killed his dog. Then you'd kinda be in a hard spot cause you'd have no proof it was that dog that did anything. The only thing that would be certain would be that it was this guy's dog and you shot it. Not saying I don't agree with your decision cause believe me, I would've done the same thing. Just stating a possible scenario.

While I agree with you, you still have no proof it was that specific dog that had been terrorizing the neighborhood. Plus, the court probably won't see what the dog did or didn't do, all they'll see is you shooting this owner's dog.

A similar situation: My dad's red nose pit got jumped something horrible by our neighbor's rot over our female pit who was in heat. Our red nose pit was still just a puppy barely a year old and was no chance against that 5-6 year old rot. The rot pinned him and got a good bite at the neck about the time my dad put a 30/30 hollow point right between his eyes. Our neighbor tried suing my dad for killing their dog but my dad had the battle scars on his red nose pit to prove his reasoning and the case was dismissed. That was also in Mississippi though, laws may be different in Oklahoma.

the gun is a 10/22 with volquartsen internals, hogue od green stock, 16 inch fluted lightweight tactical solutions barrel, threaded for a surpressor, and a decent little 3-9x40 scope. shoots under a half inch at 50 yrds, and is amazingly light weight. thinking about selling it to get some stuff for my ar..... ill get pictures later.
