It symbolic...it could be a lot of different things going on in that picture...hell the dad could be a pro-US informant or something...but in the context of this thread, the innocence of the child is being protected.

While they use human shields, hide in schools, hospitals, and mosques, and fire from behind innocents so we can not fire at them, we stand in front of the same people to protect them from their own people.
