First bike...

The last time I rode a bike w/ any gusto was pre-puberty. I'm now 27. I am getting a sportbike. Thinkin Suzuki GSX R 750. I am a speed freak. Duh.. Anyway, the gixxer is the only F/I 750 on the planet. And a 600 of any kind, I'm afraid I will get bored too soon w/ it and lose my ass on its value when I trade up.

Any thoughts?

get a hayabusa

but naw for real, i used to be a member of www.sportbikes.net they have some really good info there and they HIGHLY discourage powerful bikes from beginners.. i dont know if you are a beginner or not, but they even say 600cc bikes are too powerful.. anyways, just read around and dont get anything too dangerous.. wouldnt wanna lose a fellow MMer..

LOL- two of my buddies started off on the same sv650- fun little light bike- the owner dropped it once going around a corner at around 20mph... don't brake while turning. He didn't get hurt, but is moving up.

You should get a Ducati Tri-Color 1098- only around 30 grand... 30 hp less than my car and 3000 lbs lighter.. can't go wrong. well, aside from the whole 30 grand thing.

I always wanted one of those. I was on my way to buy one too, but then my girlfriend called me and threatened to leave me. Not cool, I swore I wouldn't kill myself on one, but no go.

Oh yeah, shoulda mentioned the 10K cap. As far as a too powerful a bike, my buddy has a SV650 S and I have ridden his a few times. Had it for 3yrs and is now bored w/ it. Even w/ the nirtous... Now he's lookin at a Busa...

Again, I don't wanna be in that same situation in 2 yrs. Thats why I am thinkin a 750...

I started out on a cbr 600 f4i...for about a week i rode and rode and rode. Then my dad let me ride his 1000...I have been hooked ever since but cannot afford one right now. I have ridden dirt bikes all my life though, so i was used to it somewhat. I would tell you start on a 600 but that is just my advice and you do not have to take it.

I can honestly say the 750 is one displacement i havent ridden. 600, 929, 954, 1000, and i SAT on a busa...HAHA never ridden one of them....but, they are fun once you get used to them. Start small and work your way up....Hell anybody can learn. My step mom started out on a 250 ninja worked her way up to a 600 cbr, and has rode my dads 1000rr.

well i am comfortable with riding wheelies man, just know that one small flick of the wrist and it is up....But dad does have a power commander or however you spell it...A 600 will bring it up, if you pull the clutch and give a nice flick and let the clutch go... I am going to get some vids up in a few months of me cracking a few nice wheelies.....

But back to your question....Too powerful to have fun with? Not if you know what you are doing...I wouldnt start on it man, but a few months with that 750 or 600 and u will be ready.

The right 600 wont let you get bored too quick. However the 750 would probably be better for you. I had a friend upgrade from an older F3 to the CBR1000RR. At first he said it was a little crazy, but he quickly got used to it and loves it. Wheelies, twisties, tracktime, etc, are not problem for him. Although he did almost flip it the first try just after buying it. The power freaked him out....

I bought my 600 F4i new in 02 and have never gotten tired of it. I rode the 1000RR a few times, but still love my 600. The 1000 easily got away from me in the longer runs, but the 600-750s are more common and most of my other friends had those so there was always someone to ride with.

If I ever got rid of the F4i, I would probably get a 600RR. Even still, that 1000 is one mean machine. Have fun deciding!

BTW - I dont have to clutch it to bring my 600 up in first. Just blip the throttle at the right rpms. Gets right up to the balance point and stays there til I run out of gear or set it down. In 2nd, I can stand it without clutching it as well. Same thing, just blip the throttle, but add a quick bounce to compress the shocks first. Comes right up and balances quick.

Personally I havent ever ridden anything, but from my knowlege, I think a 600 would be best. It is lighter and has more agility. I think the 600 and the 750 have compairable power levels.

i will tell you right now.. i LOVE suzuki bikes.. i have driven the gsxr 600, 750 and 1000..... the 1000 would def be my fave.. the 600 is tooooo slow.. not much faster than a car but they are good with weight and take corners super well.. the 750 is okkkkkk but the 1000's are PIMP! its kinda heavy but if i can handle riding a busa which weigh an effing ton..... then i'm sure you'd handle a 1000 lol and if you put a full exhaust on that beast.. you'll be runnin with the busa's!! my boyfriend has a 05 gixxr 1000 and its a freaking blast to drive!!

here's a pic..

yeah i meant in second with the clutching. First is easy with a 600...as far as standing it, i never did that. always too scared! In first it is easy to come up, just go up to about 7-8k rpms, let off the trottle, let it engine brake a bit and then just flick the throttle...i always liked doing that... I havent ridden in a few months and i am feeling withdrawals. I think the 600 runs out of first gear way to fast. I could shift into second while still up. but second is pretty easy to get it up if you give it enough throttle with the clutch...god i love crotch rockets almost as much as mustangs!

While we are on the topic of bikes....Devil pipes are the shizzle, screw all the yoshi, micron, D&D, scorpion stuff...if you want a badass look and nice sound, get the Devil...although i do like Microns high rise style.
