Nitrous
If you look in the 'for sale' section, im the winner on buying a 75 shot nitrous kit. You can see pics if you look there. Im gonna hook it up on my 'oo 6er. Any ideas or suggestions? Im pretty sure that im gonna change it to a 50 shot just to be safe.

TUNE TUNE TUNE. Also I would get a WOT setup with an engaging switch to be safer than just the push the button kind.

Ok, I know NOTHING about nitrous. Its a Zex kit with a NX bottle. The bottle doesnt bother me, I want to paint it. Should I do a bad-ass paint job, or just a plain coat? I ask because I hear that I need a bottle heater. Does that wrap around the bottle and cover the paint? Can I safely run a 75 shot on stock internals? I knew nothing about the plugs, what else do I need? They said I needed a purge kit also, do I? What is that? Who would tune the kit? Any place that installs kits?

Ok, a bottle heater in not a necessity, yes it wraps around the outside of the bottle (think your moms hot pad) nor is a purge kit necessary, nor a badass paint job.
Yes, it will be fine on stock internals. The plugs will help prevent detonation. 1 stage colder is just fine. NGK V-powers are a great plug. Like $1.77 each @ a parts store. Any auto, well, not any, but most parts stores will be able to tell you what plug you have, and will be able to read and interpert the #/Alpha code on the plugs in your car to tell you which NKG V-power you should use. A purge kit is a waste of nitrous unless you are running a BUNCH and are racing. It clears the line of any debris and regulates the flow. A heater keeps the temp in the bottle at a more stable level. No, it won't blow up and make a perty blue flame like F&F portrays it. N2O in NON-flammable. It is however VERY cold. It will give you frostbite rather quickly. Do not put your face over the nozzle to see if it works. Installation is pretty easy if you have all your shit w/ the kit. Face the bottle towards the front of the car.

Don't get to overwhelmed about installing your own kit. I just finished my first one and it worked fine. They aren't that big of a deal. I would say go ahead and get a bottle warmer, especially in MO. It does get cold there right? I live in FL and I've got one. They're used to keep the bottle at a certain pressure so that you get the same amount of flow every shot. If the bottle is half empty it won't have as much pressure in it, unless you heat it up with a bottle heater. You could go as big as a 100 shot, but make sure you get a dyno tune to go with any size shot you put in it. That part is absolutely necessary. I'm not sure about which plugs for a v-6, but NGK are my first choice. You can call them directly and tell them what your going to do with your car, and they can give you the part # you need. Contact crazylegs on the board. He's got a forum in the vendors section, and he can hook you up on anything you need to finish the kit. And he gives great advice on things like N2O. He helped me through my install. |

Not a clue about where in MO... Just try googling performance shops in MO. As big of a city as St. Louis is, there's bound to be one there or in the surrounding area.
A bottle warmer is less than 175 usually. If you get the cheapest version than it'll be a lot less than that. For 150-200ish bucks you can get the kind with the pressure regulator on it so you don't have to turn the warmer on and off. This helps especially if you can't see the gauge. You can also get a remote gauge to put in the cockpit somewhere if you want to. I've got mine on the bottle itself so I went with the pressure regulator version. Check with crazylegs, he'll know what you need. |

just because nitrous oxide has a sticker that says it is nonflammable does not mean that the gas in that bottle wont burn, and yes it can blow up and make a huge flame. (I cannot coment on what color it is.)
