Rain sensing windshield?

i just saw a commercial for a lincoln that has a rain sensing windshield

seriously wtf? are people getting that lazy they cant move their arm 10 inches and turn a little switch?

good god technology is getting ridiculous, why does the cartoon "Wall-e" keep coming to mind......

thats a stupid idea n e way, what if you live somewhere with a lot of bugs? the windshield wipers would turn on and just smear guts all over your windshield

nah it had something to do with how often it sense a drop and when it reaches to a certain point, it turns on the wipers. i dont know exactly how, but that should be the rough explanation.

Yeah it dont work for bugs.

I also believe its in the windshield wipers them self.

well if you lived in sw ks that would be a problem, i drove 10 miles outside of dodge city one time and my windshield was covered in bugs, it ruined my blades because when i tried to use my washer fluid, its delayed, so my wipers just smeared that shit before the fluid even hit my windshield

Its a sensor that is part of the mirror where it attaches to the windshield. They have had the for quite a few years already. Hell they had auto dimming headlights back in the 60s

yes. I managed a car wash to help my current boss out and alot of the cars would have them on, which wasnt good. Some people didnt know how to turn it off either. But yeah when the windshield/wipers got sprayed they would come on.
