He also thought that a double stack aluminum wing would make his car faster. I'm not kidding.

lol if you really want to get him back just tell him to drive his car on the highway without any tires, just on the rims. that it'll make his car go faster cause its lighter
or a better way to get combustion in his engine is to throw a match down his gas tank to help it combust before it gets to the engine, tell him it makes its compression or something more effecient

just be sure you have a good distance away from him before he grabs matches.
As far as racing, I'm not afraid

On the track atleast lol. When in highschool I used to have a old 86 chevy nova 4 door economy piece of crap that had toyota emblems on the motor! (no joke).
Just for giggles I ran it on the track here in Oklahoma at Thunder Valley, lol it was a 31 second car at if I remember right 68 mile an hour or near 70 atleast. Nicknamed the Great White Hope lol. was white with black raggid trimming so it looked like a giant pile of bird crap that was crusted over. Oh, the 31 second time, that was after stripping almost everything out at the track, putting a 50/50 mix of purple racing fuel (110 octane if I remember right, it's been a very long time since I've been out there) and that was even from a power launch (holding the break and gas) lol.
omg that was pathetic, to make matters worse, since it was Friday it was test and tune night, and I swear, the first time on the track, my first ever race in my entire LIFE, was against a full blown dragster, slicks, bare bone chassis, and all. By the time I even got 100 feet out of the starting area he already crossed the finishing line lol.
There, now you know my shame!
