God love the Ford union workers.
Yep. They bust their balls to bring quality products to the consumers.
http://www.clickondetroit.com/video/...x.html?taf=det I've said it once and I'll say it again - lot's of Fords financial problems need to be blamed on people on the inside. |

I don't have any sound on this computer, so I don't really know what's going on in that vid...
I will say however that, in my opinion, unions are what's causing a large part of the problems with Ford.... I have absolutely no use for a union. All that do these days is protect lazy workers. Not saying that is their only problem however. |

Fact: It takes approx $1500 per vehicle to pay for union wages and benefits. Yu priced any Fords as of late. The prices are not dropping. My daily driver, a 2004 F-250 Crew Powerstroke 4X4 was manufactued at a total cost of $16000. The sticker was $42699. You don't have to be further along than grammar school to realize that the money is not going to Union benefits and wages. How about the lazy bastard that got 39million for 4 months of backslapping, kissing babies, and patting himself on the back for being a master of the universe. That is what is wrong with corporate America. Corporate greed.

Actually, with the cost of just about everything jumping through the roof these days, it's probably not to cheap to build dependable cars anymore... i.e. steel prices, oil prices, etc etc have all doubled within the last year or two... so I'm sure it costs a little bit more for Ford to manufacture their cars than it used to. That being said, their cars are being sold at retail value for more than what the average working class adult makes in a year; so something is terribly wrong with America and her economy, of that I have no doubt.

The point of the video was that these guys are spending 4 hours on their 30 minute lunch breaks. You telling me that isn't costing Ford money while their product isn't being built and quality of this work isn't being supervised?
Nice try on defending Ford, but these guys are lazy fucks who aren't helping Ford's cause. and I call BS on Ford making a 30,000 dollar profit on one truck. |

consumer reports has saved my family thousands of dollars on cars. they tell you exactly what the dealership paid for the car and then you take your bucket of knowledge to the dealership and use that to talk them down. but anyways, i was wondering why we have such shitty transmissions. those guys are always drunk....

I'm not sure how true this is, but I heard there were actually some serious competitors on the Chrysler division of Diamler/Chrysler... Like the fact that someone actually made a bid to them to buy off the entire Chrysler division.... So yeah it's all three that are having trouble's.
And I agree with you on the fact that the corporate chumps are grossly overpaid... I found out last year that the company I used to work for, the CEO got a 1.25 million dollar bonus, and the lowest chairman on the board of directors got a $750k bonus... Mine was $900 before taxes, and I was a salaried supervisor at their star plant...

There is obviously more than one reason to any company losing such large amounts of money, although this is one of the reasons. As a truck driver over the last almost 20 years, I have delivered to some pretty major corporations, such as Intel, IBM, Rubbermaid, LTV Steel, just to name a few. I can't tell you how many times I have walked in when I first arrived at the customer, and found in their break room, cafeteria or office, 10 or more guys sleeping in chairs & on benches.
And then 4 or so hours later after I had completed their delivery, walked back in to the place to find the same guys still sleeping. So multiply 10 guys times X amount of hours sleeping @ about 25 some-odd dollars per hour times how many hours per year per man, and maybe add overtime Who knows how to calculate lost production. Maybe the overpaid white collars do. lol So this is definitely a large part of why some company's get in to financial trouble. It goes on more than you would think. |

i'm a union rep and steel worker. some of you guys got balls to say anything bad against unions. yes some of those jobs are overpaid. union and especially non-union, like the CEO's. but at least you have an organization that can stick up for you and your family's future. health insurance, pensions, wages, i protect all that where i work. sometimes i do have to stick up for the "lazy" guy. but "I" personally can rectify that situation with my member. whatever the discipline may be. but at least i can negotiate MY raises, working conditions, safety and heath care. can you? oh, thats right, your employer TELLS you what you're going to pay and not pay or when you get a raise or even IF you get one at all. some people do abuse the power of union representation and those are the only ones who seem to get the spotlight.
BTW, remember when BFGoodrich had those recalls on bad tires and those vehicle crashes and roll overs? SCABS made those tires while the union was striking to keep their retirement and healthcare and there jobs in this country. but remember like some have said, "WE" are the problem. YA, OK! at least i haven't lost my job to the chinese, yet! way to go America, keep buying overseas and outsourcing good paying jobs, it seems to be destroying our country. to bad more foreigners own this country than its own people!

Those members in that thar video are lazy piles of scum sucking down money for sitting around in the middle of the day wasting Ford's money to drink. I can't believe you'd defend even lowlife lazy piles of crap like those guys. Last time there was a strike at the BFgoodrich plant here near town, they were negotiating because they didn't want to take a whopping 3 dollar paycut from their 25 an hour paychecks having absolutely no college education and making too much money to do what a properly trained 'scab' could do. I wish I had a job where I could start right off the bat with no college making 25 an hour, pay high union fees and literally suck the American pride directly out of an American automobile company. I'm sorry but the union is a waste of resources. Some have no college, work 40 hours a week doing work a teenager couldn't do for minimum wage with proper training and go buy as many cars and trucks as you can, then you drive like assholes in your giant SUVs tailgating me while blinding me with your headlights at stop lights (it NEVER fucking fails, mind you) Then you go home to your mansion and think you've accomplished the American dream by being paid way the fuck too much money costing everyone else who doesn't work for Ford thousands of extra dollars over the cost of a vehicle, all so you can keep your 3 dollars an hour that you literally don't need. I can determine my pay raises, I work for a family company and if I felt I needed a raise I could simply ask for it. But I'm too lazy, and I realize that. Unlike some union workers. |
