On my way home from work tonight, there was heavy Easter traffic, and I was trying to get by a convoy of campers and trucks. I punched it a little to get by them, and as I started slowing down I saw headlights flying up in my mirror. I thought "Ah shit, just great. Not even trying to speed, but I'm getting popped the one time I let it out a bit just to pass some people."
I had been doing the speed limit all night, or close to it, since there were cops everywhere on the holiday weekend. Luckily, it wasn't a cop, it was some dude in a 4 door Buick GS that wanted to race me. I tried to wave no at him and shook my head at him, but he took off anyway, and I just left the cruise on and didn't bother. Too many cops, and WAY too much traffic anyway.
Sure enough, not 10 miles down the road, here's buddy on the side of the road with a provincial police car, lights flashing, just pulled over. lol.
I hate to see anyone get a ticket, but come on, use some common sense....if you see cops like every 5 minutes, it's probably not a good idea to hammer on it in heavy traffic. Ah well, maybe he got off with a warning.

Although as I get older I find myself being more careful, and I still think street racing is not a safe thing to do, I hate to see anyone get busted like that unless they are being a complete idiot. Especially young guys, as even one half-assed ticket up here can send your insurance rates through the roof, even with just a 4 door beater, never mind a sports car.

When I was putting the insurance on my wifes car at their office a couple years back, which is just a small office with just two desks in it, there was a young dude at the other desk, and try as I might not to eavesdrop, it's tough not to when you hear him say "But how am I supposed to afford 600 dollars a month for insurance?" Yikes. I caught up with him outside, and he had a 98 GT, and he told me his insurance shot up from almost 300 a month to 600 because he had just gotten his 2nd speeding ticket. Harsh.

OUCH!!! I only got pulled over once for doing 30 in a school zone. it was 4:30 n I didnt even know they stayed on that long ...the cop was nice enough to drop it down to 29 mph so that way it would only take 1 point insted of 4 so he saved me some $$$$ but the fine was still doubbled.

*sigh* i got my 3rd ticket on saturday... if you take the safety driving class they don't raise your insurance or put points on your licence... my insurance is a little less than $180 a month for both my rx7 and my v6.. the 5.0 isn't covered seeing as how I CANT DRIVE IT! lol

I'm 37, and I pay 280 a month for 3 vehicles; my 89 winter beater Merc, my wifes 2000 Alero, and my 07 GT. No tickets for either the wife or I.

haha, when i was in florida a few days ago, this 99-01 cobra mustang flew by my car and sure enough, when we got on the highway he was in the median in front of a cop car getting a ticket

Allstate....our agent was cool! he put in every possible discount he could get for us.
