The teacher then said, "I had a second student in another class turn in the same paper, he already admitted he found the paper online. because you continue to lie to me I am going to have to have you expelled." The student said back to him, "I'm the one who wrote the paper and sold it to that website."

true story.

How could he prove that he wrote it and sold it to the website? He could have just been lying to the teacher.

Either way, even if he did write it, selling it to the website makes it property of the website, and automatic plagiarism if he turned it in as his own work.

Don't worry, someday some young shit is going to give you crap because you had a iPod, or a Blackberry. And they're going to call you old in the process. It's really funny.

My parents still have a set of World Book encyclopedias from the 1960s. They belonged to my grandparents. I used them to write reports when I was in elementary school, but by the time I got to high school we weren't allowed to use info from encyclopedias because it was too general.

In one of my classes in 7th grade, the teacher took us to the local university library (which was about a 10 minute walk from the middle school) and we spent every class for about a month looking stuff up in books. We were each assigned a Native American tribe.. everyone had to write their own 8 page paper with proper citations.. which isn't too complicated, but for someone in the 7th grade it was quite a bit.

Nowadays when I write my papers, I use books in the library and peer-reviewed journal articles in the online databases. Pretty much, if it's not a book or a scholarly/peer-reviewed article, you cannot use it. People can put whatever the hell they want on the internet, and a great deal of it is bullshit. Also, a lot of times if you base your paper on books and don't look at the newer articles, you will end up with a lot of outdated information... especially in some sort of science. They are always discovering new things, and sometimes they prove older ideas wrong.
