Why not make a four header exhaust system where two headers are on each side of the system then each of the four outlets goes into one high flow cat then the muffler that way you can have true side exhaust and true rear, obviously it is V12 only but I wonder how that would sound especially when using a one chamber muffler. also there can be an X-pipe for the side exit and and an H pipe for the rear. All mandrel bent leading to 3 inch steep tips. It would probably have a more refined tone.

I may be wrong but has this already been done?

no...please read what he typed again...he said BOTH exhaust out the side and out the rear...as in 6cylinders feed one exhaust and the other 6 feed the other setup

People don't use more headers because there's no need to when you can use 1 or 2 on a car (depending on the engine). Exhaust is meant to be move out of the engine and past the cabin because the fumes are deadly. Most exhaust systems are also used to quiet down the sound of the engine. Exhaust isn't supposed to be a complicated network of tubing running all over under your vehicle, it's just supposed to eliminate noise and get the exhaust fumes safely away from you before releasing them into the environment.

I kinda see what he's asking. Instad of have a header run from 4 pistons. Why dont they run off of 2. So you would have 4 headers total off your motor. 2 pistons per header.

Yep, that's what he's after. But it would make no sense considering how much more difficult it would be to work with and it would add more weight to a vehicle by basically adding a second exhaust system.
