dude a AWD car will take a rwd in every way only advantage on a drag strip of rwd is you don't eat your clutch up like you would in a awd.

just saw someone saying AWD cars own RWD...specifically stating the Skyline against RWD cars...but when theres 8 second TT foxbodys that are street legal and not just a dyno queen with a turbo the size of a honda motor...that Owns AWD...also when Tim Lynch owns a 6 second mustang which lifts the tires up with the wheelie bars for 90% of the 1/4 mile....that owns too

i like were you going with this but i wanted to let you know this is probally the most random post ive ever seen in my entire life.

AWD has the andvantage off the line(sometimes)
AWD cars that might seem fast on the 1/4 are alot slower from a roll
AWD has alot more drivetrain loss
AWD cars that are fast on the 1/4 can still be used as a daily driver all year long
AWD would have saved me alot of money on tires
AWD is zero fun (IMO)
althu you can buy a controller to set the drivetrain to make the car handle like a FWD or a RWD or a AWD car so you can have a RWD car to have fun in and a AWD to drive in winter.

Most AWD cars own RWD cars off the line. Not all, but they get off the line QUICK. Now that is a very bold statement saying "AWD cars dont own RWD"...Depends on the cars being compared and the situation they are in.

Ive seen cobras yank evos...and vice versa...but when it comes down to it on the 1/4 mile....RWD does dominate rite...im talking just straight line Drag cars...ive seen 9 second evos get stupid 60foot times...like a rocket...but when it comes down to it....the fast of fast if im not mistaken are rear wheel driven

IMO awd is put on cars so grandmas can drive sports cars. RWD cars are eventually faster then AWD on the strip it doesnt make a diffrence from a roll. and to my best knowledge lynchs best is 6.666, akwardly enough. when it comes to drifting AWD isnt #1 RWD is.

and the only thing that makes evos decent happen to be a decent sized turbo and AWD, by a controller turn it to RWD or FWD, take the turbo of and you get what an evo actually is. but thats not an argument and will probally end up in argument.

AWD is for punk kids that cant handle a RWD car, or so they can let there mom and grandma drive it to work when they need to

everyone has there preferences but you wouldnt catch me dead in a AWD car or a 4 banger. i cant stand the sound of a 4banger. then again AWD will always have a bad name because its only put on 4 cylinders and rarly a 6. and almost every AWD car is turbo'd.

If you wanna compare AWD vs RWD take an evo or sti or whatever AWD car buy the controller set it to AWD run down the strip get the time, let it cool down again put it on RWD bring it down the track.

AWD is better from a dig

with a RWD car its easier to roast tires...but with a skilled driver and the rite suspension for your type of racing...along with tires...you can still own a AWD from the line and at a roll really doesnt matter unless your one of those RWD owners who can smoke the tires doing 65mph when you have a huge turbo setup in your car

i have numerous amounts of time, my freind has a WRX(not an sti) and my other freind has an evo and have driven both by my house(country roads lots of turn with loose gravel lol) and on highways, and they've let me rip them. dont get me wrong there fun to rip everyonce and awhile but RWD around the same roads is 30X funner. i never let them drive my 03 cobra thu lol. besides being anal about people driving my cars, no offense to anyone but i dont trust any of my freinds that have had AWD from the start with my RWD cars

To each his own here guys. Mustang guys are going to be partial to RW driven cars, as an Evo or WRX owner will swear by the AW drivetrain. I like 'em both. Equally. They each have pros and cons.

From a drag standpoint, if you had two equally equipped cars, one AWD one RWD, the advantage off the line will be the AWD car however the RWD drivetrain is such that tire spinnage allows the engine to hit it's power-band before its AWD counterpoint, thus equaling the two cars out again.

There's a reason why most pro drag racers have rear wheel driven cars, as there is that very same reason as to why indy cars are all wheel drive. They're suited better for a certain race. Both are great. Hell, I like FWD just as much... you can still have a fast car and not have to worry about losing the rear end

Well I'd like to say that in my teenage years I raced sprint cars doing 100+ in the twisties and my all wheel drive platform kicked ass. No rear wheel drive car could handle like that under those conditions. But in a straight line the car was sluggish. That's how they react, all wheel drive cars I mean.
