Any gun people in here? I need Christmas advice.

I have a friend with an AR15 who I need to buy a gift for. The last time he went to the range, he mentioned something about wanting a scope. I don't know anything about guns.

Will any AR-15 scope fit any AR-15, or do I need to do more research? Is there a big name in scopes I need to be looking at? I believe he's shooting ~20-30 yards. I don't want to start asking him stuff because then he'll know. Budget is an issue too. Anything less than $200 is perfect.

What does he use the rifle for? What length barrel? What kind of mods does he have? I'm just not sure if you want to spend less than $200 for a scope when you could get him other stuff. $200 isn't going to get you much.

The Super Sniper scopes are the best thing out there for your dollar but it'll end up being $300 for the cheapest scope and he'll still need a mount for them. I can't say I wouldn't be trilled to get it from a friend and have to buy a mount for it though... How good are you friends with this person!?

your money would be spent better on something else besides a scope.... at 20-30 yards, a red dot would work best, but there really arent any decent red dots for the price your looking at.... id get something else like a good sling or a light setup

Eotech stuff is amazing but a little expensive, M68 red dot sights are nice as well.

Iron sights ftw!

I agree, lots of other accessories for around $200 or less, any scope under $200 isn't worth it.
