Won Ebay auction accidentally and dont want item??

Hey guys I won a polisher earlier today on Ebay, but I placed a bid that I shouldn't have by accidentally touching my pad on my macbook pro an won the auction. I sent the seller a message stating that I accidentally placed a bid that I shouldn't have and told them the I do not want the item. I didn't get a response back. So I then sent them another message stating that I would purchase the item as long as they didn't cancel me out but I need a response back first be fore I send payment. They still haven't responded back yet to either of the messages. Can I not purchase the item without getting penalized by sending another message saying that I am not going to go through with the purchase since I won the auction accidentally? I have only made a few purchases on Ebay and this was and honest mistake.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Don't send any money. Let them ding your feedback if they want and you can leave a remark under the neg feed back.

I bought something from someone before and forgot to check their feedback. Their feedback was horrible. I asked if they would cut me loose from the auction and they said no prob. I gave them positive feedback because they were a pleasure to deal with.

Thanks for the advice guys. I actually have another item I was bidding on but got out bidded and I made an offer to the seller yesterday and he just responded back a little while ago told me he would sell it to me for $10 higher which is still not bad. Yet he says to bid the item to the set price which is $135 and to send the paypal payment then he will end the auction and ship the item. This seems sketchy to me I asked for him to change the listing to a "buy it now" because I don't know how to send payment without the auction ending first. What do you guys think about that?

buyers cannot recieve negative feedback from sellers anymore. You might get an unpaid item strike but its no big deal unless you get a lot of them.

Sorry, being a former seller I hated people with that excuse. You cant accidentally touch the pad and buy something.

Also, dont ever buy anything out of an auction on ebay.

Well it did happen to me because I was going to place the bid, then it asked for a confirmation. Thats when I realized it didn't want it after all was going to close the screen, but I accidentally touched the track pad on my macbook pro and it confirmed the bid. I don't see how this is not possible. It was an honest mistake that was accidental. As I said I have only purchased a few items on Ebay and I am new to it still.

I did that with a set of heads but I posted em on here and got lucky n they sold right away..... Glws and maybe post in classifieds

Its not the end of the world, and it doesnt make you a bad person or anything.

But...

You you entered a price you were willing to bid, pressed submit.

Then pressed confirm.(albeit it on accident)

Thats a legally binding bid. Will they waste time trying to make you pay, probably not. But these auctions do cost the sellers time and money.

Well that sucks I would be pissed of myself, I now understand where your coming from as a previous seller.

What do you think about my post about the other item (post #5)? Can a seller change the auction to "buy it now" without having to pay additional seller fees? Also does what I wrote on post #5 seem like a scam? Thanks

that seems sketchy - wait for a buy it now option. If no buy it now, move along because if you pay him and you get no product, you have no recourse throught ebay.
