Yay selling cars (rant)

So I'm in the midst of selling my Escort GT, since I can't take it to Oki with me.

It's listed at $1200, since I just put in a new clutch, intake assembly, timing belt, and a full tune up, comes with 2 sets of wheels and tires. I'm just trying to break even really, since I payed $500 for it and ended up putting $500ish into it.

Anyways. What pisses me off is I've had probably 8 or 9 people call me today asking about it, and yet it seems none of them have any damned money.

One person in particular I wanted to strangle through the phone. Calls me up, asks a few questions, wanted to know if it had cruise control and some other little stuff. Then he pops the question...

Him: Ok sounds good how much you trying to get for it?
Me: $1200 cash.
Him: Hmm ok well I have $700 cash.
Me: Ok...well its not for sale for 7. It's for sale for 12.
Him: Well what about if you keep the extra wheels and stereo?
Me: I don't want to do that...everything goes with the car. For 1200 bucks.
Him: Well what if I traded you something with the $700 on top?
Me: (I already know I'm gonna say no, but I'll hear what he has to trade) Maybe...what do you got?
Him: I'll trade you a PS2 and a binder full of games and movies, plus the cash...oh and a iPod Nano...it works good but the screens cracked.
Me: Uhh yeeeeeeeah. Not gonna happen.
Him: Cmon man, wheres your Christmas spirit?
Me: What do you really expect me to do with a 10 year old game system and a busted iPod?
Him: Alright man, cmon, I really need this car, whats the lowest you'll go?
Me: $1200
Him: Man cmon, I ain't working, I don't have that kind of money.
Me: Sounds like a personal problem then, huh?

Then I hung up.

For fucks sake. It's one thing to try and negotiate a lower price but to offer me your busted and worthless crap? And then he flat out tells me he isn't working and shit? Heres a thought...GET A JOB! Fuck. People are stupid.

Always list it for more than you want.. because while sometimes you may get lucky and the buyer wont haggle, there will always be people who try to talk you down.

i had my bike for sale for $12,000 at one point and a guy came and asked how much i wanted and i told him. he told me he wanted to buy it. he asked all kinds of questions, sat on it, talked with his wife for a while, and told me the most he could afford to pay was $3,000. i told him to get fucked.
