has anyone heard about the debate thats going on for this movie? some people believe that a black man should not play the norseman god in this movie for either their own reasons or its not true to history nor the comic. some of these people have boycotted this movie because of this.

How do you feel about idris elba playing the god in this movie?

imo i have no problem and dont see how this is so important that some people will not see the movie because of it and i think its sad. its a movie and not someone trying to pass it off as factual

Do people have no concept of the word acting? It means playing a part that is not yourself.

I hate those stupid idiots that were complaining that 3 of the 4 main characters in The Last Airbender were white... guess what a white person can act out an asian part, hell almost all of us have probably done their accent as a joke.

The only thing Hollywood should do is cast the person who does the BEST ACTING job for the PART. They should never look at the color of skin on the actor because your skin is not part of acting unless your in porn and last I knew Thor wasn't a porn (although I am sure a spoof will follow).

People who get bent backwards whenever there is either not enough representation of minorities in acting or too much need to shove it and ask if the person was the best actor for the job. Personally I don't see a big strong black man as a problem for a Norse god after all they were usually mighty warriors right?

agreed I mean I haven't read too much on this movie but if a character is white lets say and they play an asian, black, etc etc... it destroys the original character. like playing a black superman or white malcolm x like sickfox said.......

You know how many times women played male characters and males played female characters back in the day? And no one ever accused it of destroying the original characters of shakespeare and such. My goodness, I could really care less if the movie is not accurate to the mythology, or the comic book. X-men was so far off the freaking deepend but it was a well made trilogy and it made a lot of money. I mean come on, the first thing you notice is that original members arn't even there and some members are incorrect ages, and some are just plain made up. The Phoenix was not jean gray no matter how much they try to shove that idea down your throat. Jean Gray was in the bottom of the freaking ocean.

Let alone all the book to movie conversions that are completely inaccurate to the way they are described, Twilight, Harry Potter, Eragon, Lord of the Rings, and pretty much every other book to movie is completely missing parts, don't physically appear right, and are missing dialogue.

Lets be honest, a black dude playing a norse god is no more unrealistic than Robert Patterson playing a stone hard irresistible vampire.

If you want accuracy dig up some manuscripts from the medieval ages, if you want entertainment and special effects that make the story come to life watch the movie and ignore their outward appearance of one character.

i agree with you about protesting and partly about keeping the part correct. i guess for the comic book fans it can be a problem but for everyone else, it shouldnt be a problem since its just a movie

And If im not mistaking if its based off a comic book then its towards that crowed which you would think they would keep it the same. Just like if it was a classic car movie, people (this forum) would throw a shit fit if something was off like that.

yea your right i didnt think of it that way but if they only catered to the fans then they wouldnt make much money since that crowd is getting smaller and smaller and it would look wierd with just all white honkeys
