here are the times of greatest eclipse for anyone who is interested:

12:17 am PST
1:17am MST
2:17am CST
3:17am EST

so probably check out like an hour before and see if you start to see anything but it should be an amber red around those times above. if you didnt know... the mood should go black, then turn red, and then black again.

nope got them right from the news. it happens at the same time. those are just the corrected times for all the times zones

The eclipse begins at 1:33 am EST. At that time, Earth's shadow will appear as a dark-red bite at the edge of the lunar disk. It takes about an hour for the "bite" to expand and swallow the entire Moon. Totality commences at 2:41 am EST and lasts for 72 minutes. According to NASA the last total lunar eclipse that happened on the winter solstice was Dec. 21, 1638. The next one will Dec. 21, 2094. If you're planning to dash out for only one quick look -* it is December, after all -* choose this moment: 03:17 am EST (17 minutes past midnight PST). That's when the Moon will be in deepest shadow, displaying the most fantastic shades of coppery red.

yea central time is 1:30am not 2:30 and the instance of a total lunar ecliple happening on the summer solctice hasnt happend sense the 1600's and wont happen again until 2094

I think you mean the winter solstice but yea not that big of a deal really seeing it just lands on an exact day. There will be 2 more next year.

Same here, awaiting to happen to grab some shots. I was I had a Telephoto lens so bad right now. I am lucky that theres not a single cloud in the sky.

I just checked outside, 12:30am CST and I don't see anything. Its suppose to be starting soon.

Cloudy here too. The clouds have an eerie reddish tint to the north west though. Kinda freaky.

Oh and I would be able to see better if my neighbors would turn off their obnoxious fucking Christmas lights.
