I would look into Springfield XD, Kahr makes a nice CCW gun, Glock, Even Smith and Wesson M&P. Take your time a pic the gun that "feels right" most ranges will have rentals you can actually fire. I thought I wanted a Glock until I shot one and hated it!

Shit man in AZ you can open carry anywhere and can have a firearm in your car as long as it take 2 steps to discharge a bullet. A law just passed here where you don't even need a permit to carry concealed. Which I think is an absolutely stupid thing to do. Also, they passed a law here that you can bring a firearm into a facility the serves alcohol as long as the management allows it.

I am for gun rights but those two laws are just bad things waiting to happen. Think of it this way, in Arizona, a hot headed 21 year old with a clean record may be concealing a .40 cal handgun while getting shit faced and the local watering hole...Responsible use????
I plan to. One thing I'm trying to find out, I've taken a hunters safety course 15 years ago. I haven't really actively hunted in a while so I don't have a recent License. I'm wondering if I can call the local state agency here and see if they can track it down. I still plan on taking a Hand Gun safety course. Its worth the money for the education you obtain from it. Just would like it so Its one extra thing I can take downtown and show them.

I know the AZ ccw course is designed to teach you more about the laws of using lethal force than it is teaching you how to use a gun.

The next gun debate that irks me is... Why do you need that many rounds? 30 rounds is way too many! Why do you have an AR15? That's one of those evil black rifles that kills babies and kittens! Why would you ever want one of those!?

The real answer is because only 20% of rounds fired hit their target.

dont want it.. think about it, the people that are murders are going to get the guns they want.. think of how many 'gangsters' are running around with unregistered mac 10s, uzis, and 9's.. They are going to have them then even if the laws say you cant...

i dont see why i shouldnt beable to have one becuase they are killing people and i cannot protect myself/family from others

...unless they just want loads of people breaking the law

So my brother was telling me, last night, that he'd heard about how Iowa is now a shall issue state. He was going off and telling me how it's just going to cause of a bunch of problems. He even told me about a study where they put something like 20 people in a class, gave 3 people paintball guns, and told them that they were to take down a gunman when he entered the room. When the test was over, the people with paintball guns had "killed" a good number of their classmates when everyone "panicked." I laughed and told him that was retarded. First off because you can't carry a weapon into a classroom. Second because the people should have been trained not to fire through a crowd of people (and not to shoot at all unless they have a clear shot with no innocent parties behind the target). Third because people generally don't get up and run around when someone enters a building with a gun, they tend to get on the ground to avoid getting shot. Fourth because the guys with the paintball guns would be in jail (if the situation was real) if the gunman hadn't given any clear intentions of using the gun to harm anybody (you can't just shoot somebody because they're holding a gun, they have to point it at you or someone else to justify you shooting them -in a court of law-). I laughed and told him that I'm still getting mine. I don't care what some biased study showed, I don't ever have to actually pull my gun on anybody. It's just there should I ever feel someone is actually going to (try to) kill me.

I think that all states should be carry states. Like previously stated--criminals already have them, and it shouldn't be that much of a hassle for us to have them to protect ourselves. What I do think should happen is that instead of filling out a form/having your friends vouch for you (anyone that has a permit knows what I am talking about.) there should be a fee (say around $200 or so) that you pay in order to take a 3 day training course on getting to know how to use your weapon properly and situationally. Take that $200 or so you pay and make sure it goes to the County instead of the state and is put to good use for road repair or something around those lines. I think everyone should be trained in how to properly use a weapon and the County offering a class on it would promote safety in a public environment. The County could also let master weapons techs open private businesses which would give back to the community as well. Besides, it will be pretty funny when you see a criminal shit his pants when you pull out your AR15 to his .22 pea shooter.

I agree that having a few freinds sign for you is BS. Even criminals have friends that that will vouch for them. Although just paying a fee isnt the answer either. I know in NY when you apply for a pistol permit, on top of need friends to sign the do a extensive background check to and make sure you dont have a violent history or obvious intent to use the gun in a unlawful manor. They also ask for the purpose of wanted to own a pistol. I think this is the way to go. Obviously it wont stop every crazy person from gettin a gun but it will cut down on that chance. And allowing everyone else to carry will make them think twice bout pull a gun.
