Agreed.

Although I will say that AZ new law that doesn't require any type of training of permit to carry concealed is flat out RETARDED.

Agree... Gun control is just going to take away guns from most of the responsible ones and give more power to thugs and the likes.

Its funny how people think gun control is going to take guns out of the hands of thugs and criminals.

the people that commit these crimes, arent going to give a shit no matter what the gun laws are. this just makes it more dangerous for law abiding people who wont be able to protect themselves.

I <3 Guns.

As for gun control, ehhhh, not so much. Politics are far too heavy handed. Laws are made by people who have no idea what real life is like.

Just because some people can't control themselves does not mean others have the right to control us.

Because making drugs illegal has kept them out of dealers hands...

Banning something only keeps responsible people from accessing the illegal item in question.

I like my sword, and my knives... Gun control is definitely stupid. I'll eventually venture into the world of guns, but I'm more fond of things that have a blade.

I love guns!! Guns don't kill people, people kill people. When's the last time you heard of Mr. 12 gauge getting up, walking over, and shooting someone? When's the last time you heard of someone with a gun killing someone? Oh wait one just happened recently ( r.i.p tuscon deaths ) Why should the responsible citizens be punished for retards crimes? ...

im with you guys exactly, the biggest issue with gun control would be the fact that law abiding citizens would have a hard time accessing weapons when your average street thug can get a gun for 100 bucks depending on the type.

I preach to everyone about how they should carry a gun for tons of reasons, shoot people think im crazy for carrying everywhere even if im sitting on the couch at home or lying in bed.
simple fact is i would rather get caught with it than without it.

where im from your average 16 year old with no gun awareness/experience once so ever and a couple hundred bucks could pick up a norinco ak47 off the street quite easily just gotta look around.

an example of this would be when "tookie" williams the famous founder of the "crip" gang was executed COUNTLESS gang members of all shades and colors turned in weapons that the police were unaware even existed in their region. its not really about that they turned them in its just the fact that they had access to superior weaponry than our police force

My thoughts: If you make guns harder to acquire and restrict where we can carry them then you're just taking guns away from law abiding, responsible citizens and leaving them in the hands of violent criminals. Politicians don't honestly think criminals are taking CCW classes, applying for permits, registering guns, and all that good stuff, do they?

Now if you relax the guns laws, but keep them tight enough that criminals can't just walk into a gun store, point to the one they way, and walk out with it, then you're going to have more people owning and carrying guns. Generally these people are going to be far more responsible than a criminal and probably won't draw their gun unless they have to (if some of them can even muster up the courage to). Any criminal with anything in their head resembling a brain should be able to figure out that more people carrying guns equals a higher chance of them being shot and possibly killed if they try anything stupid with people around. Plus they would have to think twice before kicking in someones' door because there's a better chance they would walk in and find themselves staring down the barrel of a gun.

So basically I think gun control has it's limits. Stores carrying guns should in no way be selling to criminals (don't worry, they know where to get their own guns without the law ever knowing) and the government should in no way be trying to limit our ownership of guns if we've done nothing wrong. We have a constitutional right to bear arms so anyone who doesn't want guns in American can go fuck themselves and move to the UK.

A criminal does not follow laws. A criminal will not follow laws about guns. It is so simple! look at all the illegal drugs. there are laws against them, but everyone can still easily get them.

Perfectly said!!

One of the reasons I love Arizona...our laws out here are very very lax but tight enough that not anyone can just buy a gun. Plus we have the Castle Doctrine law in place which makes me feel more comfortable if I ever did have to use lethal force.

As the Supreme Court hears arguments for and against the Chicago, IL Gun Ban,I offer you another stellar example of a letter (written by a Marine)that places the proper perspective on what a gun means to a civilized society.

‎"The Gun Is Civilization" by Maj. L. Caudill USMC (Ret)

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument,or force me to do your bidding under threat of force.Every human interaction falls into one of those two categ...ories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.See More

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force.

The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman
on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger,

a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad ...force equations.See More

These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat--it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed.

People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.

Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser.

People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal force watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender,
not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level.

The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply wouldn't work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn't both lethal and easily employable.

When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone.

The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carryi...ng a gun is a civilized act.

By Maj. L. Caudill USMC (Ret.)
