How hard do YOU push?

When working out, running, biking, etc

How hard do YOU push?

I push as hard as I can until, well pretty much I CANT do anymore.

Like when running, I push until I think my legs are about to physically give out, until I feel like my lungs are literally going to implode in their self.

When I'm doing pull ups, (I do those a lot maybe 40-50 a day) I do them until my arms shake and it's just not happening anymore.

My friend tells me I push to hard is their such a thing?

Haha till you ain't gonna break! When your running if you can't carry on a conversTion run just a bit faster. You don't have to sprint all the time. Try using telephone poles or other landmarks example: start at one polein a jogging fashion, run past two or three poles and start your sprint after either one. Use city blocks, jog one block slow pace and the next block sprint.... Reapeat. Google (fartlek run)

You don't need to kill yourself to reap benefits from your workouts - you have to be consistent.

There's nothing wrong with pushing yourself your body and mind can do way more than you would actually think.

It all depends. You can't always go balls to the wall or it won't let your body recovery properly.

I used to be HUGE into running back in high school 2 or 3 years ago. I haven't done as much in college but I keep at it. I used to run an easy 40-50 miles a week during track and up to 75 miles a week for cross country.

Now I am really into MMA. Specifically, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with a ton of grappling and submissions drills and just straight up MMA style fighting and boxing. Let me tell you, that works the cardio I didn't know I had. Thank god I have so much endurance from the running or I would have sunk so badly when I first started training.

Any type of combatives or MMA training will work all your muscles along with muscle endurance. I try to do 3-5 classes a week depending on school load and try to get to the weight room and run as well.

All in moderation dude, you have to do the right training and eat right if you want to see the results. I was barley 138 pounds when I started training with MMA, and now I want to reach about 145-150 by the end of spring.

Anyway let me rephrase, about the running, I go all out when doing sprints. When running like 1-3 miles I dont go as hard as I can.

I do push when I only do one mile, My time is down to 5:12 speaking of that I need to go run tonight.

Yeah trying to eat right, Ive been chocolate free for a week its KILLING me lol

A 5:12 mile time is very respectable. Especially for someone who doesn't just dedicate their whole training regime to running!

On my HS team, it would be an "average" time because the ENTIRE boys varsity distance team was basically stacked. Our best kid ran a high 4:2x and a 9:26 mile. Most other teams we faced, a 5:12 for them would have easily meant that runner was going to score points in the race for the team.

My overall PR to date is a 4:42.

That's a really good time in the mile. I don't think you are pushing to hard. My experiences I had in the army tell me that the human body is capable of more than we are aware of. The thing is to get your mind to say I'm going to run as fast as I need to and I'm not going to quit.

If you make your mind believe you can do anything you can!

PR sorry not sure what that is.

I'm trying to get my mile down to 4:30 I know its a huge goal but I started off at 5:56 so it's getting there.

I really want to get it down to 4:30 just so I can say I have done it

I am going to start running farther though, when your on a tank of air and out of shape you can suck it down pretty fast

Thanks though for that respect comment appreciate it, pushed hard for it

The mind, the most complex thing in the universe as we know it.

If one could ever conquer the mind, it would be incredible, that person would be known for the rest of the earths time.

Yeah I have watched shows on how the human body can be pushed farther then anyone thinks. How if we can re-route our brain we can do A LOT more.

When we feel tired, we're not really tired. We still have quite a bit in storage.

4:30 is a ripper time. I kept chipping away at mine until I got injured (fractured the metatarsals in my right foot) and had to stop running for quite some time. If I kept at it im sure I could have kept getting it lower. Keep at it and let me know how you do!

For sure will do, that sucks about your foot, metatarsals isn't that right before your toes? What happened?

I want to get my 4:30 in under 3 months, going to start running once in morning once in afternoon.

Have a bet with my Captain

Even if I dont get it in 3 months still going to keep going until I get it.

Tiller not to toot my horn but what I was saying earlier about the mind. I was discharged from the Army in 2004 for severe asthma. I've run a 13:00 two mile done 85 situps in two minutes and 95 pushups in two minutes all with asthma that's what I was talking bout.
