What would you do?

First off little back ground. I've owned both systems, though the ps3 blew up awhile back, I still have the Xbox 360.

I'm at a loss here on what to do. I'm a casual gamer and Looking to maximize what game time I do get for my TV as now its HD. I doubt i ever get into the Online part of it, as I have mobile broadband and really don't see it viable to attempt to play online. *as of now cable/dsl/fios* doesn't come this way.

I am looking to get a Blu Ray player for the TV, and Been leaning toward a PS3 because of the player/gaming option. In my opinion at least now that games have really started to harvest the hardware of the ps3, Games are looking much better. I've compared Modern Warfare for both consoles, PS3 nails it hands down. Not stabing at the 360, its a nice gaming system, but alot of decent features seem to be going more and more online as far as content.

With this being known, my worry is if i decide with the tax return to buy a Ps3 it will be time for the ps4/5/520 to come out and it will be a waste of money. With this in mind, would you keep the Xbox and get a blu ray player, or get the ps3? Not sure the life span of the xbox 360 either *as in how long before the next model comes out* Thanks for the input.

LOL I have played both on high quality Tv's and I see no difference in graghics at all. I'm rocking a 42' philips with HD cables and 360 and looks amazing. I have a friend who has a ps3 with flatscreen and it looks just as good so for my graghics, I personally don't see any diff. I would just get a blu ray player and keep the 360 but thats my opinion . There both great systems but I seem to like the 360 more. It's simple, and with xbox live for the people that have you get wayyyy more out of it then ps3's online play. That's my 2 cents.

p.s. I also believe that 360 has more games, and doing some research it seems the graghics are better for 360? I'm reading the GPU is more powerful, more powerful filltrate, and far more pixel and vertrex proccessing horespower? IDK they always seem equal to me when they're both set up equally or near equal. I can set up a 360 on a not so good tv vs a ps3 with HD and it will blow away the 360 but set up equally they are about equal from I have always been able to tell...

Get both...

I love my PS3 for blurays and streaming media...I love my 360 for online play with friends...

When looking for a blu ray player, you want one that has the ability to upgrade its firmware. As blu ray evolves, the older players that can't be updated lose out on numerous features of the newer blu ray discs. To get a good blu ray player that can the firmware can be upgraded is going to run about $200. For that money, I'd go ahead and put another $100 with it and get a new PS3. That way you get the upgradeability, as well as everything else a PS3 can do. I still say the PS3 is the best bargain for total blu ray entertainment.

Note: Although if you don't have it hooked up to the internet, it being upgradeable doesn't matter.

Edit, I have both and love them equally. Live is superior system for online play, but PS3 is way better a multimedia serving

go with the ps3... constantly updated as new features come out (downloadable upgrades) and still the best bluray player on the market. pair that up with a great line of games, and there really should be nothing to think about

I would just go out and buy a cheap Blu-Ray player. I say spending $200 on a Blu-Ray player just so it's upgradable is dumb, IMHO. Just go out and spend $50-$75 when one is on sale. Then IF it's outdated in 3 years, go buy another one. By the time that's outdated, there will be new technology (I for see no physical media, all on a portable drive).

Unless you have a specific game that's only available for the PS3, I would stick with what you have.

The only reason to go PS3 would be if you are really into RPGs. Even then the 360 has a lot of amazing RPG titles, the fable line, the FF series is being released there too, and Last Odyssey.

All the major Racing, FPS, and Platforms are being released on all of them.
